Why Don't You Guys Finish What You Start?

I'm not dead yet. My projects, like life itself, are on-going. As long as I have one more breath left in me, I'm not "done" with anything.

I love this site and all the stories and information given but have one big complaint. After spending many days and hours on this site reading all the threads asking for help, a lot of people don't finish the thread with what they found wrong or if the problem got solved (at least in most of my searches). The thread just ends as if they fell off the edge of the world (the world is round isn't it?). So many people here try to help and if would be benefical to all, to see how the problem got resolved. We would all benefit from the end result even if it was mentioned they where unable to find a fix. It's got to the point now that I go to the last post to find out if the problem got solved before reading anymore of the thread, to avoid becoming fustrated. Again, I love this site, as I just bought a tractor to work on property that I bought and have got alot of very useful and helpful information from all the people here. Please let us know if you find an answer or not, even if it's months later.
We all love to read a book with the last chapter missing or see a movie with last five minutes missing.

Have a great day.
Ralph

Ah, closure. So often wished for, so seldom achieved.

I'll mend my careless ways in the future.

I agree with the OP, but it's human nature. I got it fixed so lets move onto the next project. TBN is nice in that if you find a thread and there doesn't seem to be a conclusion, all you have to do is post to that thread and ask. "what happened here". And that thread gets moved back to the top of the pile.

Here is a good example of this.

The op hadn't posted in almost six months. So we asked what the status was, and he gave us an update.
People here are very friendly so dont be afraid to ask.

Yes, it was meant with some humurous intent when I wrote it but also some seriousness to it. :D I suppose, I was just trying to make some think about there threads and hoping to keep in the minds of some, to give closure to a problem when solved. When there are dozens of helpful ideas on what may be the problem, it helps when one knows what the actual fix was or that none of the ideas did work. I too have alot of different projects in the works, so you're right, I get side tracked too. I apprecicate all the different viewpoints and people not afraid to friendly disagree.
Ca. people have the same problems as everyone else in this country since most of the people here (including myself) have come from different states. :D Will, I am off to try and finish a project I started two months ago. I won't start a thread on it here because my tractor had nothing to do with it and it maybe another month before I finish it. By the way, I see alot of abreviations for 'sayings' in the threads but not famalier with alot of them. Is there a place that posts the meaning of each?

Have a great day,
Ralph

Ralph,

Great point. I have given out lots of advice on repairs, issues & stuff and probably only 1 in 25-50 has the OP replied back as to the resolution. A few do - a few even give a quick "thank you" for the pointers, tips and advice. Seeing that closure helps in knowing that the issue was diagnosed correctly and the fix worked.

Why so few? I guess it's just folks in that category don't feel that common courtesy is needed when dealing with on-line interactions. The stuff Eddie said is also true. Who knows what the real deal is?

Hey Ralph, the problem is that you have California listed as your location. The server software assumes you already have all the answers...
