On the face of it - almost everyone with with a wooden deck needs to resurface it every few years, seems a roomba style device could do it.

I suppose if you don't mind uneven application and random missed spots...

Roomba's are not that good at what they do...

I bet I can roll on a coat of oil faster than a Rumba could do it. I use a long handle to avoid getting on my hands and knees.

Have you ever rented a paint sprayer? Almost always they are turned back in being at the most half cleaned! Can you imagine adding a computer chip to that? What a mess!

On the other hand you may have a multi million dollar idea. People are lazy ;) Maybe a robot seal sprayer, I can see an application for decks and driveways....

I just let the wife paint it. Problem solved. You just can't beat a good woman!

The deck floor is the least of the effort. The railings are where all the time goes. Which is why when I built my new house, the deck is outdoor rated tile and the railings are stainless!

Doesn't tile get slippery with snow on it?

Sure, but I don't go on the decks in the winter, really. Plus they are covered (one is screened-in the other is not - where the grill is) so they don't get a lot of snow. But decks are a nice weather space up here so it is kind of moot.
