Massey owners are out on there tractors. Nothing but great quality from Massey. My 1020 has to be one of the heaviest built tractors of its size. For only being 21hp it pulls like train compared to other tractors of its size. Massey has proven it's self over many years. Where would we be in tractor terms today if we didn't have the Ferguson system (3 point hitch).

"Did you realize that it was Ferguson who invented the three point hitch?:D"

Quite a few years ago I read the history behind the MF name, quite a story. You and Mike R make a good point, in a lot of ways it all started here baby!

I have 2 MF35's and a 202 Workbull. One of the 35's has been here since 1982. Only a small hobby farm but from spring through to fall they all pretty much go every day. Tilling the gardens around the countryside, bushwacking fields, mowing hay, spreading manure and generally taking care of the animals and plowing snow in the winter. I love them. All of the parts match and a 1/2", 9/16" and a straight screwdriver will fix about anything on them. Great little tractors that are greatly reliable.

I see Steam Traction engines and big prairie tractors in Massey's history. Do you see them in John Deere, Kubota, Kioti's history NO. Some of the tractor company's around today haven't been around for 50 years, unlike Massey which has been around for almost 165 years.

Is it just me or does MF seem to be the red-headed step child (pun intended) of the forums?

Where's the love?

Most of the MF talk I see is about the older tractors, especially the 135

I like 'em.
I don't HAVE one, or I would post about it.
Maybe things are quiet because they don't BREAK as much as some of the other brands - maybe not bought for pride of possession - maybe they just work ?

Kinda Dull ?
Yeah, but a GOOD (uneventful) kinda dull (-:

I wanted to seriously consider a MF when I was looking for a CUT. My dad used both JD and MF back in the day, and I still remember the turbo whine on the MF. It was always awesome to drive. Aparently most of the MF dealers have lost business because of a poor parts distribution system. So my nearest dealer is about 30 miles away. Then I checked capacities for the FEL, and it really wasn't as good for the smaller CUT. NH wasn't as good either. I would have been proud to drive a red tractor. Ended up very happy on an orange tractor.

I think MF owners are out there working their tractors instead of playing around on the internet like the us.

Exactly!

Just out of high school in the 70's, I worked on a large farm. I learned to operate MF 135, 165, 1135, and a couple of Long's. We worked those tractors hard every day farming peanuts, corn, sorghum, and hay. When we caught up, we sprayed weeds in the pastures and moved irrigation pipe. Never had a breakdown or failure.

As a kid and a young man, I worked area dairy farms. JD's were the most common, used an Allis for bigger machinery and an old gas Farmall. I just bought a mid-80's MF compact and have fallen in love again with tractors!!

I have a 60" mid-mount finish mower for my summer home on the River, it has a FEL that I wanted for setting and retrieving docks and, much to the joy of my neighbors, added a 62" Lynx snowblower to the arsenal this winter!

Funny: when I bought it this summer and was trailering it home, I stopped at a gas-mart to check air pressure and make sure all the chains were tight. A tall, lean man whips in with a small datsun pick-up, jumps out and runs over to me, grabs my hand and starts pumping it up and down, all the while exclaiming, " I'm so f****ing happy to see something other than one of them %&*%# Japanese Kubota's" and walks into the store...

i. MF compacts ARE Japanese and
ii. so was his datsun truck!!!
