I'm a bit familiar with the Deere tractors at HD, and they are the same models (low end) that are sold by Deere. Also, the Deere set-up techs are used to set them up.
However, I've been around the service manager who gets the call or the visit from the guy who bought the Deere at the HD and says the tire won't hold air, and there must be something wrong. Not happy when the service manager quotes the hourly rate they charge for fixing flats. This is but one example. Warranty things are covered no matter where its purchased, but dealer customers probably get preferential service when needed. Just a no-brainer, IMO.
Nice part, IMO, about buying from the box store, is it doesn't involve a salesman. Sometimes its just nice to go pick it out, and walk with it. No one asking if you need or want more attachments, or more bells and whistles to add to your purchase. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
