Why ride street bikes?

. If I ever bought another bike it would be just to run around town. If I came across a 305 Dream in halfway decent shape I would consider buying it, as they don't seem to demand a high price.

Friends had a Kaw H1, and H2. Any lesser of a rider would not have survived the H2 - he was a bit crazy, but seriously skilled on 2 wheels..... went on to street racing the litre Kaws after that.

My trials bike was also a Kawasaki, a 250 and I really loved that bike!

I had a 750 BMW AND a 305 dream...

Right now I have two Goldwings, a Yamaha XS650 twin, 750 Kawasaki 4 cyl and a Harley 1200 Sportster...

The only two I'm riding this summer is the Yam 650 and the Sportster.

I liked the shifter on the Kaw triples.... 5 down! No neutral to mess with between 1 & 2. My RD400 was 1 down and 5 up. I missed that first shift a couple times. An air shifter would have resolved that.

I forgot that I had a Honda 750 Four (C750) for a few years in there. I forgot about it, because it was boring compared to the RD400. I bought it because the RD400 was too racy to take my wife for rides on. The Honda was big and comfy, but not real fast or nearly as fun as the little RD. So, I had the little screamer for my daily ride, and I'd take the wife out at night or on the weekends with the bigger, softer, boring bike. :laughing: Ahh, good times. :thumbsup:

I never got into the Harleys too much. I like them, but back then, they weren't the most reliable things, kind of expensive, and slow, comparatively speaking to the RD400. I think I got spoiled because the RD was my first street bike, after the DT250 enduro. But I do recall a guy bringing a highly modified Harley out to the local dragstrip. He turned a 9 second quarter mile, and we found out he blew a tire and ran out of fuel on that run! That got me thinking a little differently. :laughing:
