Not just motorcycles...bicyclists on the road are a high risk group. No way would I put my life in someone else's hands. Another one just died in my town this past week. Happens quite often.
Why ride street bikes?

It's the car drivers (cages) that are the issue. Get 'en the keck off the roads!
I do find it interesting to read about riders doing stupid stuff and getting hurt or killed as a reason not to ride. Can you not control yourself?

We had a good friend that was an eye surgeon.
It was very rare that he did not get a call on Saturdays to harvest a cornea in that street bikes were the main source of organ transplants.

Who is at fault if motorcycle is riding the line and hits a car changing lanes. In my area we have bikes that will ride line at about 70mph. Scary as heck for car drivers

I quit about 20 years ago because too many people, going too fast, without too much of their brain working.

I see people riding the line all the time on motorcycles, and they are old enough to know better but I see it all the time, they look at you as if they are invincible..
I rode for many years until a pickup truck with a drunk driver operating it came around a corner on my side of the road, I had a choice, hit him head on, hit a guard rail and get chewed up in a meat grinder or try to go in between a large oak tree and the guard rail, I hit the oak tree, broke 27 bones including T6 to T4 of my spinal cord, the helmet face shield did a lot of damage but saved my life, I was a mess for 10 ten years..

I bought my first Harley in 1964 when I was 16!
Sold my last motorcycle in 1974, A Triumph Bonneville.
On my way home from work 1974 at midnight, stopped for a 4 way stop sign with flashing red light, a drunk driver hit me from behind doing about 30 mph.
Knocked me and bike all the way across the intersection and we stopped against crosswalk sign.
Broke in pieces one of those grey plastic lunch boxes against my lower back that was strapped behind me.
1966 Oldsmobile, bent the bumper, broke out the grill, punctured radiator, had to be towed.
Guy got out, with slurred speech said "I didn't even see you!".
Cop gave the guy a ticket for following too close, said he's been drinking but I don't thing he's had too much!
My hair was too long!
Bike was totaled, I got a sprained ankle, out of work for 6 weeks.

That's intentional though; if they ride in the center or righthand side, people will take that lane like the bike isn't even there. Just before I sold my last bike years ago I found myself pushing off from somebody's door with my foot as they "merged" into my lane while I was there. Two weeks later and a few blocks away some censored pulled out of a parking lot, cutting me off. I kicked the rear tire out to skid around her rather than hitting her door; and stalled with my face just inches from the snowplow frame on front of her pickup. As I worked the bike back and forth to get it into neutral so that I could restart it she was sitting there swearing at me to get the **** out of her way.
I took the bike home, put a sign on it and sold it.
I have been on 2 wheels since age 4 or 5.. Probably have 150-180k miles on the road and 4x that on a track.. Last Friday a friend was riding in a group and someone on another bike hit his rear wheel.. My friend went down. ..He is in a coma in a Boston hospital at the moment. Several head fractures as well as a orbital fracture.. Prognosis is still very uncertain. Sometimes you just never know when your number is going to be called.
