Why so many variations in service?

Did you check the little box that keeps you logged in? It's easily overlooked. It works too. If you didn't TBN automatically logs you out after X amount of minutes. You can be typing a long winded reply and it will time out before you finish. Check the [X] to stay logged in.

Thnx kid. I suspect we only have a "digital" choice here with Remember Me:

No Checked box - Auto Logged Out after X (fixed) minutes.

Checked box - you are logged in Forever.

Y/N ?

I'm more of an analog guy; I won't use that feature, w/o more granularity in the timing. Old reflex from high security work, and I use a laptop that travels....

This is correct. Check the "remember me" box for freedom from logouts, pop-ups, and general dissatisfaction.

Checking the box sets a cookie in place that keeps you from having to loggin each time. If you have your browser clear cookies upon exiting. Well then, you'll have to log in again. Check the box first during your session. Although TBN logging you out automatically, it"s a security feature very common. Before I retired the mainframe I used from time to time would automatically log you out upon inactivity.

Thanks guys.

1) Just wanted to clarify, as I may have sounded more whiney than intended..... I have my own thoughts/habits re. logins, and ended up rambling on a bit here, with the intent of helping the OP.

Ended up confirming some of what I'd figured out, and learned more completely what is going on with the Login process - all good !

2) Muhammad - realizing that many/most folks are quite happy with a Click'n'Forget setting, I'm only referencing this site below to illustrate what I was talking about above (other options vs. Short/Forever only timing).

No Worries..... :tractor: by Net :)

Ah, I see. For our forum, it's a permanent cookie when you click remember me.

Interesting. That is the first forum I have seen with that feature on. I wouldn't use it though if it were available.

Thanks for the replies folks. I have my computer set up to delete all cookies everyday. They're not always a good thing and I don't like other people setting up space on my PC.
