Since you cited the defunct COVID 19 threads...I dare you to go back and show proof that what caused those threads to be closed was any type of rhetorical, systematic manner which is what you are saying...I dare you...!

What you will find is that in a majority of the cases the actual content of the offending posts were more relative to the subject than the average comments made by rubberneckers...!

FYI in one of the very first COVID threads I personally cited the fact that the subject was 99.44% political...people should have known what to expect...you can't expect everyone to just play dumb and ignore the facts of the matter and act like they don't exist so the snowflakes can feel warm and fuzzy like curling up in front of the fire with a good book...!!!

Again, I dare you to post proof of your claim that "the same old crap" closed down all those COVID threads...

In reality, the Covid threads are alive and well on TNT which, is exactly where they belong. In fact, other than tractor or equipment related threads, that is what TNT is for.

LoL...I think you mean the partisan political rhetoric related to COVID...all you have to do is look at the contributor list and know you are not going to really learn anything...even Doc (Island Tractor) is so biassed even his educated opinions are politically influenced...

Sorry to say it but TNT is a joke...a very sick joke...! it's overwhelmed by a few moronic imbeciles that are so misguided it's not even funny...it's like a three ring circus of retards with a couple of additional clowns... none of whom have any true understanding of anything...especially politics...

From what I've seen the total number of members is a bigger number than the combined IQ of about 90% of the participants...!

No thanks...

What keeps me attracted to TBN is all the other information available...topics where folks even without advanced degrees can really teach and relate experiences that can be of help to many...it's not the controversial crud that draws me...I just tend to get caught up in it when it does arise...I don't seek it out...I call things as I see them...I deem what's real and what's speculative...

I am pretty sure I was the first poster on TNT, Atzlan thought he was but we could not find his post.

I stays for a few days, and then decided the morons were not my cup of tea, havent been back since, other than earlier today and the moron brigade seemed to be in full force

What is this TNT TinyNutTribe? We had a local gang with those initials, it stood for TrueNativeThugs. They petered out fairly quickly.

I can say that I've been guilty of responding when I should just ignore some posts, and succeed most of the time but struggle some days.

I know it happens all the time but I wish that threads would get pruned instead of closing good threads and suspend or ban constant abusers.

Here's an example:

On July 1st, I put in 21,088 steps at my employer, mostly on my hands and knees, installing several hundred Covid19 related floor signs. After work, I got in my Suburban, and followed my wife in her car 120 miles south to drop off her car for one of our kids to use, since their car's interference engine broke a timing chain and ate the engine. We ate a quick dinner and I drove 120 miles back home, arriving around midnight. Decided to check in on TBN before going to bed, only to find the getting old thread reported to the mods. So I had to read back through about 45 posts, trying to determine who said what and if it needed attention. It did. So I started selecting posts for pruning from the usual 5-6 people, plus a couple other folks. However, there were 45 posts in that thread that day, multiple arguments, insults, quotes, etc.... after spending about 15 minutes on it, and realizing that pruning would leave it making no sensible conversation left, I closed it around 12:20, as instructed by the owners of TBN, if things get out of hand. I left a note in the moderators area at 12:22am on July 2 letting the moderators and TBN staff know that I closed it, and also left a note that if anyone else wanted to prune it and reopen it, that would be fine with me. Apparently there were no takers.

As to why there were no takers, I won't speak for any of the mods or TBN staff. If I ventured a guess, it would be that they, too, may be tired of the same 5-6 people running threads into the ground and having to clean up after them on an almost daily, if not several times a day basis.

That's why I, for one, am excited that Muhammad is investigating a way to take care of some of these issues with multiple infraction members. I hope it's an automated system that doesn't require moderator input.

As for suspending and/or banning people, that's not a moderator function. It's up to the owners of TBN. The only people that the mods ban are spammers when we decimate them.

I hope that helps explain why some threads are closed VS pruned and left open. They just get so tangled up so fast that it's impossible to trim them up neatly. You want to leave them there for history, but you can't let them continue down the tubes, so you close them and hope people will start another thread with civil conversation. Lately, that's not happening. The same folks just continue in the next one. Hopefully a new system will put an end to that.

This thread sure has been an interesting read..

One thing I will ask on suspending or such a person, lets say we have three strikes as one said, is there a time limit on them? Would the strikes roll off sort of like points on your drivers license or would they stay there until the person is suspended?

I've got a 10 warning system in mind. But this is basically the idea.

10 is too much, unless it is associated to a tiered punishment. Like after 3 strikes, you start losing posting abilities for that number of weeks....Up to the point of being totally banned.

Also, do you have a system in place in case law enforcement has reason to find a party's location? Whether it's through VPN or anything?

Cursing or calling another individual names is one thing, but actually making threats should count as more strikes.

I'm no saint either. But I've been trying to clean up my act.
