500 vehicles a year is plenty of production to justify a 100k vehicle.
As the article indicated, they are not selling 500 a year, they are selling 100. It's a 14 year old design and would need to be updated. I highly doubt GM can redesign and retool for $11.4 million, one years worth of H1 sales (not H1 profits). GM is in enough trouble without dropping millions into redesigning a vehicle they only sell 100 of, with the numbers headed down. Not a PR stunt.

The unimogs I have seen have diesel engines and hummers have a gasoline engine. Diesel engines have always been seen as a fuel saver over gasoline engines.

Why would IRS give tax cuts on Hummers for people that has bought them and then turn around and tell the American people that people should try to save gasoline by buying hybrid vehicles?

Did you read the article you posted? You can get an H1 with a diesel. I have no idea what you're talking about concerning tax cuts for people who buy Hummers and saving gasoline.

The H1 Hummer has always had a diesel engine. First it had the 6.2l GM diesel, later the 6.5l diesel and the newest H1 has the Duramax and Allison transmission. The only gas engines were custom installations to replace the low horsepower 6.2 and 6.5 liter diesels.
