No it would not hurt anything to change the fluid yourself. It would take about 1 hour or about 4 beers! Hardest part is getting to old cheap ford cover off with the RTV seal they use .

Yes the magtec cover has a fill plug and dipstick. They are trighened and have o-rings. Again, very nice cover.

I would have to look at both fluids. What gear fluid are or do you want to use.

Ford would never disclose their shear specs- at least on purpose
I didn't know that some posis were factory mis assembled thats good info!!
So it leads me to believe the oil wasn't the culprit of shudder in my case /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

The Amsoil I wanted to use is the Sever Gear 75W90
Synthetic extreme pressure lubricant.

I would not say it is the bet out there. Plus I know when I changed mine the color was not clear, clean or anything I have seen before.
