Wish i could find prices like that. Here.. a 16.9x24 turf tire runs about 450$ with tube, installed. ( 400 for the tire I guess.. ).

Ya know, these are tubeless tires, should I be using a tube
also & if so why.
Keep in mind this tractor will see very little work, maybe
cut grass every once in awhile 6ft mower.
Hmm, maybe a tube to hold better air pressure?
Thanks again!

Tubes are good for a couple reasons... to hold air in a less-than-perfect bead ( rust/corosion.. etc. ), and for when filling tires with liquid ballast. the most popular ballast was CACL. nice and heavy.. and won't freeze.. it had a tendency to eat rims.. tubes staved that off quite a bit. Also.. on a conventional tubless tire.. if you get a sidewall hole.. your tire may be shot. If it is tubed.. you can slap a patch or boot in there to keep the casing from pinching the tube, and you are good to go. Using a tube.. you can use 110% of the 'good' out of a tire. I've seen a farmer take a tire that had a 6" long split from the tread half way down the side wall.. he sewed it up with BAILING wire and them put in a big farm patch on the inside and tubed it. It ran for years that way from what I heard. Even better. I've heard of a guy that sewed a 'patch' form another tire onto his tire when a chunk actually came out of the tire... gotta love farmer resourcefullness!

If they are tubless, run em.. if they have problems.. boot and tube them.

I had a brand new 12.4 X 28 for my Ford 650, was cutting grass for the neighbor. I ran over a T-post that was 8" out of the ground. Thanks for marking it /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif It cut about a 6" gash up the sidewall of the tire. I cut up an old sidewall of an auto tire, and made a boot for the inside. I succured it with 1/4 X 20 carriage bolts, with body washers and nylocks. Been working fine for about 9 years now. I just couldn't see junking that new tire, it was only about tow months old at the time. Gary.
