Is getting a degree just for personal satisfaction? When I retire, I don't think school work will be on my list of things-to-do.

Dave, she is not the type person to just kick back. She always has to be doing something. With 20 years of service she was able to take early retirement, roll her retirement into an IRA get a lot better grouth potential. She has every intention of going back to work after completing here degree. This time maybe getting a job she enjoys much more.

Hey James,

Tell Barb that Steph and I said hi and congratulations on her retirement and future education. I'm not very educated and would love to do the same thing. She'll be my inspiration!!!

Congratulations on the short term retirement! She will most likely be busier now than when she was working.

What is she going to school for? Or what is it that she wants to do with her degree?

Steve, she's getting a accounting degree with a minor in office computer technology. That might change in the future. Her main focus right now is to get the basics and get a marketable skill that will eventually apply to her degree. She just finished getting a marketable skills certificate for Microsoft Office over the summer.

Accounting, she can get a job at almost any place!

The down side is she will know when you went out and bought toys, because she will be able to account for every penny you have.

My wife retired today after 20 yrs and 8 months with the company. She is in her early forties (did tell her I told) and has decided to go back to college full time. She has been taking a few classes every semester for about 2 yrs now. We were at a point in our lives where she make the change and complete her degree faster. I'm so proud of her for making the commitment to getting a higher education later in life.

Congratulations and good luck to the wife on her quest. Hope it works out as well at your house as it has at mine since the Bride graduated last spring, Phi Beta Kappa. Personal confidence and self esteem is up about 200% and life is good!

Oh, so she really didn't retire, she just quit her job.

But I guess you could say, I retired from McDonald's at 18 to go to college.

Sorry to hear that James, I guess I am lucky. I can go blow money on guns and gun parts, truck parts, as I accumulate overtime and such, sell other toys.

Tractor items are definetly a mutual agreement thing and consent on buying. She could careless about my toys but the tractor is for the property so it helps us both out, that is how I hope to buy a back hoe next spring.

You should see her sewing room, she has finally started to unpack, tons of stuff.
