Thanks everyone for the feedback. I've found in my limited shopping that finding the right tractor can be mind boggling. There are so many things to consider. What's good for one person may not be right for another. Most of my work will be mowing and general maintenance of a horse farm(non commercial), so i also have to consider whether hst would fit me better or is shuttle fine. Any comments on that? well, thanks again. I've got a bad cold and the Nyquil is setting in so I'm calling it a night before I fall asleep on this keyboard.
goodnight.

The dealer organization not well established??
I have a dealer in Eugene Oregon that has been there since 1981, 1982, and has been a Zetor dealer since 1988

Boo, if you have a lot of stuff to maneuver around while mowing you will probably like hst a lot better as you can vary ground speed independant of pto a lot easier although the split clutch in the Branson (and many other geared tractors) allows you to slip the clutch on the tranny while still driving the mower....its just easier with HST. If most of your mowing is straight line and not lots running around trees and stuff the gear should work fine...I sure hope so as that is what I am going to use mine for. The shuttle works great for loader work but teh hst would be pretty easy there too. I cant think of a drawback for hst other than a little loss of power to the pto and more maintenance in terms of filters and fluids to change. I bought the Branson with the gears due to price for the amount of machine not due to need for gears...

Duane - What were the "warranty issues?"

Chuck, I am sure there are some long established dealers out there that have picked up the Century / Branson line. I was speaking of Branson specifically, as a mktg brand name hasn't been out there all that long...and wouldn't have the network that JD has for example. Another plus of the tractors moving to the A series engines I believe would be the inclusion of the distribution/dealer network already supporting Cummins engines. Seems like that in itself would expand the possibilities for support on the engines/parts, as more outlets available.

The first warranty issue was the day after the tractor was delivered I went out the next morning and started it and pulled it out of the garage, messed with it a little bit, shut it off and went outside. Came outside to see antifreeze running everywhere. A bolt on the fan was loose and drilled a perfect circle in the radiator. The dealer came out the next day, picked up the tractor fixed it and brought it back, a 140 mile round trip for them. This could of happened to any tractor of any color.
The second item was a snap ring came loose someplace in the shuttle shift not allowing the tractor to go in reverse. This one really had everyone scratching there head because it would not happen very often and we could not reproduce the problem right away at the dealership.
So after these two problems, both caused by parts less than 50 cents, the tractor has ran flawless and I have used it extremely hard.
