Wives are great, but you have to think ahead when you want them to agree with you on buying a new implement or tractor. Plan out your every move and arguement before hand is the best way!

Probably the best advice I have ever seen on TBN!!

PS: I do not think my wife said anything !

Ditto that! I think she may have stared and said, "Hmmph!"

It just happened that our new refrigerator was being delivered at the same time as our L3400. My girlfriend told me I could take care of the refrigerator, she would take care of the tractor. I don't have a clue what the guy did to the refrigerator, because I was staring out the window the whole time! I told him to plug it in and get out!

I am with you, I justified a BX23 for mowing grass, now all I need to do is find a mower deck. Don't worry, my wife picked up on it immediately and just asked how much the deck will cost. She is slowly understanding the world of tractors. I am blessed!

You guys that have "justification" for your tractor make it hard for those of us that have no good reason to own one, much less two. If I could justify mine, I probably wouldn't hear a word out of my wife. Not to say I don't give her reasons for me to own them, but in the real world of tractors, I don't really have to have one. My first tractor was purchased when I lived in a housing subdivision and the houses were 11 feet from the property line. Took some fancy talking to get that one "justified"...

Glowplug, thanks for the compliment! I am just glad my wife doesn't read this forum!

When I bought my L4400 I seriously had very little interest in tractors or tractoring. I have some land with a cabin and a fair amount of dirt roads and some 'pasture' around the cabin. My wife loves the cabin and loves going down to the property (her sister lives on the farm next door).

I basically started looking for a tractor when she started complaining that the roads were overgrown and you couldn't walk down to the lake or the creekbottom anymore. It was also staying ovegrown around the cabin.

I had to beg a little to get the loader since she could not see how that would come in handy (and to be honest, neither could I).

Now, of course, I love my tractor. It is as much a toy as a tool for me. I have fun using it. With that being the case she will sometimes comment about how much it cost, etc, etc. , how much I'm spending on implements, etc etc.

But then all I have to do is point to neatly mowed roads, trails, pastures and yard and she quiets down. As for the loader, well, I cleared two acres of planted pines so we now have a view from the cabin down to the pond. As you all know, a loader is more useful than most of us realize when we buy them.

I had a tough time convincing my wife that we needed a tractor for our rural property. But now that we have well over 400 hours on it, she sees the savings in what it would have cost to hire out the work or rent....huge!
Heck, now she wants to buy another one for herself! She is trying to convince ME how bad SHE is going to need it for HER gardening work.
Shees.

Rob, before I let Loretta have her own tractor, I would make sure that she has all of her work caught up, painting your stuff that you're always building, helping with the chores you're doing, and that kind of thing. You shouldn't spoil her on purpose-you already know that!!! Just kidding, she's a keeper and you better let her have anything she wants (it will keep her letting you have anything you want)

You have no idea how fast I would act on that if it was my wife saying that.:D Be sure that you guys do all the shopping and research, it's a big part of the fun you know.;)

Good luck

Bill and Brian,
I am acting on it today.
We sat down together to determine what her garden would be like and her other plantings. Then trying to come up with the tractor size and implements she needs. So far so good!
Bill, LOL ... now she will be painting her OWN mods for the tractor.:D
