Tractor
Kubota BX2350, John Deere X530
I can now legitimately post in the JD forums, thanks to my wife. She mows the yard 99% of the time, and it was time to get her something nice - she put up with a little Scott's/JD L17.542 for too many years. That wasn't enough tractor for our 2+ acres of lawn. I certainly want her to enjoy mowing!

Congratulations to the both of you. That is a fine looking lawn tractor. You didn't advise us whether or not your wife is requiring you to perform more household duties as a trade off, since you stated that she does 99% of the mowing.:D

Very smart of you keeping that BX2350 on hand to tow that JD in to shop in case needed. :D

Just kidding ! Big Congrats, I have a Bota and a JD garden tractor myself.
Nice pics ! :)

But careful though if you let the wife get in to much seat time ,before you know it YOU'LL be wearing the kitchen cooking APRON. :(

That was my first JD. Great lawn tractor and user friendly. I say nice move, nothing bad can come out of this purchase for the wife. Just look at her smile.

@Creekbend - No, I don't do much around the house either... wow, I sound awfully lazy now that I think about it. I'll freely admit that my wife is a mule - she's out in the yard in the mornings an hour ahead of me, and then when I get done doing whatever I'm doing, she's putting my tools away as it's getting dark outside. I can't keep up with her - too much energy.

@Roy - You're not going to believe this... I'm in Lower Windsor. Happen to know where "Cashmere's" used to be?

Her father is already asking about what implements he can get her for Christmas - not sure what to tell him to get. I'm thinking of getting her a new trailer. Anyone have experience with the largest of the "plastic" trailers that JD is selling? I like the design, and it's probably tough enough for her yard chores. How does it hold up to large rocks? Looks fairly solid, but I may go with their metal trailer.

Not sure where Cashmere's was...in Lower Windsor or Craley? We have another TBNer (JDBoy or something like that) lives down there...he runs a 4410, IIRC.

Are you familar with Bittersville? I'm about a mile or so south of Bittersville.

I know it's a new purchase for you, congrats by the way! I also know it is winter time, but is there any chance you could keep me updated about the fuel economy of that big gas engine? I am looking at the X540 right now but I am concerned it will drink fuel like no tomorrow.

I personally was very surprise at the fuel economy when I had mine. Can't remember exactly what it was but I did expected a higher fuel consumption when I first bought it.

My wife bought me a JD trailer with the plastic bed. It has the big knobby atv tires on it. I think it was listed as an attachment for the gator. Anyway, it has been a good lawn trailer. Hauled lots of rocks and stone and still looks good. Pretty happy with it so far.

I'd buy my wife a new JD if she'd mow 50% of the time! Right now I mow or have to pay my 16 year old to mow.

Don't pay him! Pay me! I'll even use one of my tractors to do it.
