Jim -

Yeah, now that you mention it, I've seen many a "V" formation passing overhead, but the two I photographed have clearly decided to call our pond "home". Either they're not the migratory type (of course, then how did they get here?), or they're taking time out to start a family.

Guess we'll know in a few months, eh? /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Well I don't have any photos because my deer are hiding from us since we moved in 3 months ago. There are still fresh tracks from time to time but I always miss them. The plumber saw 5 one morning coming on the job before we moved in, but so far we haven't seen a one. I even put up a deer feeder, but there aren't any tracks within 20 feet of it.

Funny thing, I have a new 1.5 acre tank full to the rim that has ducks on it. Its not stocked with fish yet - I wonder what ducks eat anyway?

We have coyotes galore, rabbits, and field rats. Also armadillos. As for fowl, there are lots of falcons, owls, crows, and cardinals around. Have seen coon tracks on the creek bank but haven't caught sight of any yet.

Not sure about your whitetail deer in your region, but over the years once spring finally comes and the ground starts to green up the deer will depend less on the food in which you offer, for there system goes thru a change.

Don't be fool for the wildlife knows there is food that you have put out,and it only takes one deer to feed and others will follow...and they will let it be well know if the feeder empty. /w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif

How far is your feeding station from your home...I keep my feeding around less 50+ yards from my house.

Depending on what kind of ducks they sure do like tadpoles & salamanders & snails.

By the sounds you have a good location for camcorder footage.

Enjoy nature grand show.

Jim,

The Arkansas Game & Fish realeased about 35 or 40 Canada geese here in our City pond

The department of fish and game mismangement strikes again.
I'll bet they live to regret this one. In the Seattle area the Canadian Goose has become a major problem with the majority of the people. The parks department hire people with herd dogs to chase them from park to park. They hang year round and numbers continue to grow. The debates rage, on what to do to eliminate or control them. Ideas range from gassing them to feeding them to the homeless. The major ojection is their droppings.
My view;
Animals have to put up with maneuvering through our traffic, our pollutants, our hunting laws and our encroachment into their world. So, just who has to put up with the most inconvenience?

Just couldn't help funnin' ya, Richard. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Fact is, my dad passed away at age 72, and my mom, at age 86, has lost almost all of her mental facilities. My hat's off to people like your grandpa who were still "getting it done" at such a ripe old age.

There's a fella at the gym that most people chuckle at 'cuz he does the perfect Tim Conway "old man shuffle" when he walks. Since he and I are there 5 days a week, I've gradually gotten to know him. He spends time on the treadmill and does an honest-to-God weight-lifting workout (under the careful eye of the trainers). I've been impressed at his mental acuity and sharp wit, and just this last week he finally revealed his age -- 88!!!

I'm 52, and I tell people I'm almost to the half-way mark /w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif. I believe you need that kind of attitude to keep you going. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif
