We've had this discussion many times, you could try doing a search on it. I have ags on my old Fergusion that I use to mow several acres of lawn (among other things!), and I have no problem at all. Even if it's wet, at most they leave marks that will be gone in an hour. For traction, nothing is better than ags, and unless your soil is unbelievably soft, it shouldn't hurt it at all. I have heard of many more troubles with not enough traction on turf or even industrial tires than I have heard of messing up lawns with ags.

i use ag tires on my bx2200 without any harm to the lawn. i do notice on occasion when i'm in 4 wheel drive i can chew a little with the front tires when turning. however, now that i'm aware of it it's not a problem.

BIRD,
in the picture of your tractor, there is a hyd. control valve on the fender.
can you tell us what it does? also do you have a closeup pic?

William, that valve is for the hydraulic "top 'n tilt" (two cylinders) on the 3-point hitch. I've attached a picture I made when I first got it, but the levers are different. The ones that were on it originally (in the attached picture) were wrong because the linkage was make for an enclosed box instead of the open valve on the fender. I can't go out and make a new picture right now because I just got back from my brother's place and left the tractor there. We've been moving a mountain all day./w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

BIRD,
did you do this installation yourself? i would like to do this on my L3000DT, but i
don't have a clue where i can tap into the hydraulic system, or what parts i would
need.

Yes, William, I did mine myself. I'm not sure whether the L3000DT has an optional hydraulic outlet or not, but you can use the power beyond on the front end loader valve. Of course, I asked two different Kubota dealers about the optional outlet on my B2710 and neither one knew where it was. You might get tired of reading, but if you'll go to http://www.tractorbynet.com/cgi-bin/compact/showflat.pl?Cat=&Board=owning&Number=24170&page=&view=&sb=&vc=1, you'll probably find just about everything you need to know. Mark Chalkley provided me a great deal of information, and then LarryT posted pictures of his, etc. I called it "Hydraulic Tip 'N Tilt" but apparently the proper name is "Hydraulic Top 'N Tilt". By whatever name, once you have it, you wouldn't want to be without it. I've been doing a little dirt work yesterday and today and it's almost indispensable for working with a box blade.

Re: TnT question

Bird - I just had Top N Tilt added to my TC 33D by my dealer I haven't tried out my box blade with it yet, but in playing with it, I notice the adjustment is very "jumpy". I think it will be tough to really fine tune it when using the box blade. Are there alternatives to adding flow restrictors in the line? (I don't know how to tell... there may be something there already) I'm thinking if it's restricted, there may be a problem if I ever want to temporarily disconnect the TNT and use the hydraulic connections to run something else (what that something may be, I don't know at this time)

Re: TnT question

John, I'm guessing you have the same problem I had when I put mine on (still do, but to a much lesser extent). I considered flow restrictors to make the cylinders move more slowly, but never did it. With a lot of practice, you'll probably get better at very gently "feathering" the levers. Of course, I'm sure you know that the higher the engine rpm, the faster those cylinders move, but when you're dragging that box blade, you don't want to slow the engine every time you make an adjustment, so it just takes practice to barely move the levers to make fine adjustments.

Re: TnT question

Thanks for the response, Bird. I figured it might get better once I got used to it.

One other TnT question: I'm getting some leak-down. For example, I set the top link, mow a couple of laps around the meadow and look back... it's extended about 3/4". How much of this is normal, and how much is something I should gripe about to the dealer who installed it? The tilt does something similar, I just can't easily see how much it dropped.

Re: TnT question

John-
The best way, I have found, is to bump the controls, rather than try to feather them. This gives an incremental change that is predictable. If you need more movement, bump again or bump a little "slower".
