Appreciate your insight and responses.

My situation is probably not unique, I am sitting on land that produces a good hay now, of course it can get better.
<ul type="square"> Market prices fluctuate widely
Development pressure is forcing grassland farmers out
Equine communities surround us
I spent thousands of dollars a year to feed my own
I don't shy away from hard
I cannot see spending money for something I have
I have time
We are tractor savvy
My neighbor does it for a living, but travels out of state for haying [/list]

Getting hay into my community is problematic the last few attempts by other neighbors has resulted in serious time delays. I can see this market growing, I can see myself playing a part in it.

Fuel prices, IMHO, will force significant change in this area and I am curious if others are worried.

I have no idea about on road fuel. I don't run a diesel truck so only ever worry about the Ag side of it.

I had to order and pay for a minimum of 500 gallons before April 15th. I looked at our fuel usage and what one of our friends wanted and figured at least 700 gallons would suit us until July 31st when we needed to use our allotment.

If you are interested in it for road fuel talk to your local distributers and see what type of price you can get or if they have spring programs. I have no idea if they do or not though.
