Mowing Will my 110 tlb pull 12' finish mower ok?

Hello, I was wondering what you guys think of pulling a 12 foot batwing finish mower with a 110 TLB.

If you were planning to mow golf course fairways... I'd say go for it! Heavier, 4",5" or 6" grass - I wouldn't do it with my 110!

Finish mower or not; that's alot of machine to power off of 33hp. Eight foot finish mower - no problemo!

But, 10' or 12' -- I think you'd be putting more on the engine and the pto clutch than I'd consider to be sensible.

I agree with AKfish, long term strain will cause problems the 110 is a 31 pto hp machine.

About the 3720, this is a much lighter machine than a 110 without the backhoe. It would need less hp to move around while mowing and would have a better chance at this.

Recommened PTO horsepower for a 12 foot rotary cutter, 60. I smell an expensive warranty dispute in the near future.

Woods says that their 12' cut TBW144 "Turf Batwing" mower (full specs: http://www.woodsequipment.com/uploadedFiles/Products/literature/TBW Full Line.pdf ) requires at least 30HP and the main gearbox is rated for up to 100HP.

I am looking at the woods tbw144. I read that this mower required a minimum of 30 hp. I know my 110 has 33 pto hp and 43 engine hp according to John Deere specifications. I feel if the grass is mowed on a regular basis it should be fine according to all specifications on both pieces of equipment. Thanks for all replies!

Interested to hear your reviews of how that mower/tractor combination performs. I checked out the web link and could not find any info regarding the overall weight of the machine.

Did notice that the brochure pictures offered a 5000 series JD attached to the front...

Is there any reason you NEED a 12'? I think the 8' would be a lot better for you and wouldn't have to worry about power. My $.02 anyway.

The TBW150C only needs 25 pto hp. 12.5 foot of cut too.

Your 110tlb has the rated pto hp when it is standing still. How much hp do you think it takes to move a 6000 lb tractor at mowing speeds? I deducted for the backhoe weight.

If you use the 110 to mow on a regular basis you will in all likelyhood kill the grass too. I am not trying to be ornery or anything but as much as I like my 110 the last thing I would do is use it as a finish mower.
