Where did summer go? Did it ever come? I think they got all of our New England summer down in Texas..., all I got was rain and cool weather here....yesterday, I was goung to take a dip in the pool, but changed my mind and built a fire instead...

38 degrees with 10 mph north wind here in west central Vt.. Reports of scattered frost in northern parts of the state. Last Saturday it was just over 90 on my home thermometer. Late that day I wandered into the VFW to get out of the heat and ran into some folks that were up from Houston for a funeral. They were holding a classic Irish wake and enjoying the cool weather. One gentleman asked the bartender for a Shiner Bock, which she ,of course, had not heard of. Gave me the chance to say [ in a friendly manner] "Y'all ain't from around here, are ya". Real nice people, just wish they hadn't played "God Bless Texas" over and over cause now I can't get it out of my head.

Yeah no kidding! Yesterday at about noon it was 85 and sunny, by the evening it was 38! Talk about temperature swing... I was waiting for the snow! /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Officially 111 yesterday for the hottest ever this late in the year and 4th hottest ever anytime. 113 in 1980 was the record. But the "cold front" that came through kept it down to only 99-105 today. Frost? What's that, besides the name of the town my mail comes from?/w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

That's some kinda heat. Whew!

I used to live in AZ, and one time we had 30 CONSECUTIVE days when the tempature didn't get below 100, at NITE! So, consider yourself lucky /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif.

BobT, I spent January of '90 around Tucson and February around Phoenix. Thoroughly enjoyed it. August of '94 around Duncan wasn't quite as nice, but still not bad. I don't think I'd want to be out there in the middle of the state in the summer, though.

We had a windchill of 97 today./w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif It felt great after 20+ days ranging from 103 to 108. If we didn't have bad days, we wouldn't appreciate the good ones near as much./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Tuesday morming 30 F spot frosting.

Wednesday morning 29 F have to scrape the windsheild of the car!!

Personally Fall is my favorite time of the year. Nice cool and crisp mornings with nice 60 to 70 F days. Just hope the rain will stay away for a while. Still need to seed 1.5 acres. I'm sure mother nature is going to give Texas a break hopefully soon.

Well, according to the calendar, we have 16 days more of summer. Wasn't much of a season this year. This morning's meteorologist, on TV, says that the temperature is a balmy 46 degrees. However, 30 miles from 'big town', the water on the windshield is stiff(ice). Fortunately, the forecast for the weekend is more warmer temperatures. There's still too much outside work to be done before surrendering to the cold.

I went out on the deck just before day break w/ my first cup coffee [food for the brain /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif]this morning in my socking feet as I have been for months,than I notice my fee getting cold fast,yep we got a darn good frost last night,and the flower took a beating./w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif
Oh well mother nature still has the last say as always./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif
Hopeing we still have our Indian summer up here in the Granite State./w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

I know nothing about grasshoppers other than the turkey love to eat them.

Do to so many grasshoppers in your state,is that cause by the long hot summer or is this normal?

I hope jet moves so a long lasting low pressure can move in for a while!

Wen, the highest I actually saw on my thermometer Labor Day was 110, but that low of 67 this morning was wonderful! And, yes, I hope we have a cold wet winter for a change this year.

Yeah, but add 20 degrees to Arizona temps to see what Texas temps feel like. The humidity here is what makes it miserable. The dry line is nearly always West of North Central Texas. Even West Texas has a much drier heat.
