Hank and John,
Thanks for dedicating so much brain power to my problem. In the great scheme of things, this is a minor problem but I'll fix it if I can.
NEWS FLASH ! !
Fedex has just dropped off my new Direway 6000 modem. This new modem is self hosting. It has its own processor and uses network connectivity. The old modem used USB connectivity. What does all this mean?
It means that I will be installing the new modem on Saturday and removing ICS from the Network adapter on Audrie. The new modem can feed directly into a network hub and won't need ICS. I will reconfigure the network adapter on Audrie and I will delete the network adapter on Oscar and start over fresh. The instructions from Direway are quite detailed as to how to configure the adapters, TCIP, DNS, and all that other stuff that I sort of muddle through. Hopefully, all will be well.
If all else fails, I will reformat Oscar and reload Windows 2000. Oscar is a bit quirky. It locks up a bit too often and flat out refuses to install Microsoft Office 2000 (and some other programs too). Oscar is a Pentium 2.4Ghz, 512mg Ram, 80Gb hard drive.
