The weatherman got it wrong. We were supposed to get 1/2 to 1" of snow. We were over 4" then the wind started gusting up to 40 mph and it it still snowing. Practically the whole county is shut down due to the winds limiting visibility and drifting. They shut down I-70 due to a massive pile up and there have been some fatalities. My daughter is an EMS and she worked one of the fatal accidents. All schools and area colleges are closed and the State Police and county Sheriffs are telling everyone to stay home and not get out on the road. This started out as rain with temps in the 40's then the front came through and the temperature dropped into the low 20's and the rain switched to snow. Everything under the snow is ice so it is very hazardous out there. Looks like this storm is heading East so break out your snow suits.

"is heading East so break out your snow suits."

High winds more rain today for us.
Weatherman did say chance of light snow mid week,I hope not need to dry out little and have brooks/steam go down before they freeze. :(

Heard that Minnesota got nailed as well, here in Manitoba all we have gotten so far total is around 15" of loose fluffy stuff, hardly worth bringing out the big guns for. Here all it is is bloody cold and yuh don't need to blow cold, it takes care of that by itself.:) Watched part of the dig out in Minneapolis on the news last night, all that shoveling kinda sucks but I'll just bet the people with tractors and blowers will be having fun. Some have all the luck.

From the Victoria Times Colonist paper.
Heavy rain that fell overnight Saturday and through part of Sunday played havoc with Island roads, homes and sewer systems.

Sunday's rainfall, as measured at Victoria International Airport, was more than twice the old record of 20 millimeters. It was also the hottest day on record for Victoria on a Dec. 12, as the temperature peaked at 13.9 C.

Victoria is about 80 miles south of us on Vancouver island.
We had three snow falls about 3 weeks ago totaling 11 inches, all gone now but lots of rain out here on the "wet" coast. Long range 2 week forecast is mostly rain with maybe a couple days of snow and 1 day may have a bit of sun LOL.

We got probably 2 inches here where I live. I swear all the snow in my yard is in 2 piles, right in front of my 2 garage doors. I was waiting for an emergancy call yesterday but it didn't happen thank God. I am on the Fire and Ambulance here. Today I went to St. Louis and the roads were clear but I could tell where several cars and trucks had been off the road between here and there.

Looks like we are going to get round 2 with freezing rain and sleet turning to snow tonight. I just came home a little bit ago and it was freezing drizzle.

Stepped out here 4:15am, sleet coming down. Predicted last night to start between 5-7am as snow turning to sleet and eventually winding up as rain. As frozen as the ground is here, it will all stick for a while anyway.

Around my neck of area in NC we had some freezing rain. Ended up having to leave this morning at 0600 and made it where I was supposed to get at 1100, where as it usually would only take me 2.5 hours of drive time.

Truck was in four wheel drive, and the odometer never passed 50 mph.

Probably about 15 cars in ditches up to I-77 (about a 15 mile drive).

Some major accidents on 40 going east to Winston Salem, and some pain in the butt detours.

Cars were zipping by me doing at least 65-70 in the passing lane.

People don't seem to understand the notion that four wheel drive doesn't do anything for you when you have to hit the brakes. Why people speed in front wheel drive cars in bad weather conditions is beyond me.
