Winter, what do you like about it?

Mornings where everything is covered with frost or ice and the resulting shimmer when the sun comes up over all of it! :thumbsup:

That's a really good list JimmyJ. All I'd add is some driving. I really enjoy flinging a car (or quad) around in low-traction conditions.

oh - and one more - getting stuck at home for a day or 2 when it's really howling. There's an odd sense of adveture in it.

I truly enjoy watching the snow falling and getting up the next morning and seeing the white landscape. I enjoy this to a higher degree, if I have food in our Home, and I don't have to do any work outside or travel anywhere.

Great thread!... winter can be a time of celebration, even more so in many very cold countries (Norway, Iceland!)

• - Going to bed under a warm down comforter
• - Fire in the woodstove
• - Baking a zillion things to warm up the kitchen!
• - Waking to a completely white, muffled landscape, when the night before it was just "normal"
• - Animal tracks
• - Elk jousting in the yard
• - No concern for rattlesnakes when hiking the back 15 :laughing:
• - Feeding the birds - having them right at the window
• - Clear skies with piercing stars
• - Christmas lights at night on my rural commute home

We still have some bugs here in the winter, but it kills off a lot of them. Somehow the fake ladybugs (Japanese imports) tend to migrate indoors, they bite and stink. But, there are fewer bugs by far in the winter.

Snow skiing, and vacations where it's warm!

Yes, hoar frost on a sunny morning is one of the greatest sights there is.

I like when it's 75 here and the rest of the country is freezing their butts off!

Actually, I like winter (but not too much) which is why we are building in upstate SC, and will live there within a year or so. I especially like snow, but don't like sub-zero temps.

What specifically do I like?

Snow
No bugs or snakes
I can see the mountains with the leaves off the trees
Cooking and eating 'winter' food like gumbo and chili
Sitting by the fireplace with a nice fire
Christmas
