Wireless pet fence??

I have the pet safe wireless unit on my Anatolian Pyrenees she's s big aggressive guard dog ... I love the unit and would not consider anything else she knows her boundaries and doesn't test it .. They said to show her the boundary and set flags .. I set the shock up high walked away and she discovered it on her own !!
Is she ever gonna have pups? Wouldn't mind finding one like that.

The wireless May be safer than the buried fence types but wouldn't recommend putting the transmitter. Close to you ie. night stand or anything. My BIL did that with the buried unit. Lightning hit it and ran in hitting his wife while she slept one night. Long night in ER getting checked out because of that. Lost the fence, phones, and seems like some other stuff too. Just a word of caution.

We lived in a rural subdivision, about 2 - 3 acre lots, a mile out of town. most of our neighbors had dogs and got one or the other system. Nobody complained about either system, except the folks without dogs. All the dogs would go to the limit of the system and sit and bark all day at the other dogs across the street.!

Neighbor has the buried wire system. The dogs learned the boundry and would stop at it. Then one figured out that in at least one location if he ran to the boundry and made a big jump/leap he could get out without getting shocked. Pretty funny to watch him go running and make his leap and leave the other two standing and watching him.

A dog barking for no reason is annoying

To op,
Yep I've had a couple of Brits. One of them was the best gun dog I've ever had. Both were of good working stock though and even if the invisible fences had been available in the day, I wouldn't have trusted either one to stay on the right side.
On the other hand, other than not seeing dogs constantly chained up I don't like the invisible fence concept anyways for several reasons.
But I can certainly see their allure.

Good luck with your new pup

With the buried wire, the entire line acts as a lightning conductor... If you bring that wire inside the house you are asking for trouble.. Wireless is completely different. You are not worried about having a portable phone or cell phone next to the bed are you ? Ever hear of someone near a cell phone (transmitter) that was struck by lightning inside a house ? No wires, no worries...

We also have the Pet Safe Wireless model with the rechargeable collar units. We live in a rural area. The ground is too rocky to bury the wire. We have a fox terrier and a border collie/heeler mix. I trained them with the flags at the edge of the range just like the instructions say. I don't have the time or patience to go through as many steps as the instructions, so it only took about two training trips and they both understood it. After a month or so I pulled the flags. It has been about a year now and it works great. That little terrier pushes the limits sometimes, but he never passes through the barrier. The rechargeable collars work great and can go a couple weeks between charges. We have the level turned down to one on the big dog and she never tests the limits. Before I got the system I could never keep her in the yard. I was afraid she was going to get hit by a car or cause trouble for the neighbors livestock.

I highly recommend it.
