Next step is to find him an "Old" car. One that regular people could work on like a 50's or 60's model and the two of you can rebuild it. When he gets old enough to drive, it would be the best gift he ever had and one that he'd remember forever.

I think what I'm seeing here is a kid that had little direction and nothing to make him feel unique or accomplished until now. I'm sure he has lots to talk about with his friends and experiences to share with other kids that may be doing some of the same things. It sounds to me like you've given him an avenue to fit in and be a part of a team rather than feel isolated and rejected. I'm sure you are aware that at 12 years old, you caught him just in time. His behavior would be really hard to change by the time he became 15 or 16. Hearing your stories sure puts a smile on my face too.:)

Excatly ... thank you !!

Now there is an excellent idea ... I'm thinking like an old pick up truck.

We just couldn't stand it ... so we put the oil, fluids the fuel tank back on and fired the old girll up ... perfect!! Used it for a few hours with the wood splitter and no leaks !!

Check out that boys smile ....

In this fast paced world the best thing you can do with a kid is spend time with them working on a common goal. Fixing/building things is perfect for this. I spend time with my 2 boys and 1 girl working on things like mowers, tractors, cars and models. I found a non-running 92 Civic to work on with my eldest son. When all was said and done it may have been cheaper to buy one in better shape but the time spent is priceless. So many life lessons plus a nice running car for him to get to school in. I do not miss car pooling the kids.
