I found the following article interesting. It certainly supports the idea that politicians are often more concerned with there own agenda than the issues they preach.

Al Gore痴 Personal Electricity Consumption Up 10% Despite 摘energy-Efficient Renovations
Energy guzzled by Al Goreç—´ home in past year could power 232 U.S. homes for a month

<STRONG>NASHVILLE æ?u00A7/STRONG> In the year since Al Gore took steps to make his home more energy-efficient, the former Vice President—´ home energy use surged more than 10%, according to the Tennessee Center for Policy Research.

é„* manç—´ commitment to his beliefs is best measured by what he does behind the closed doors of his own home, said Drew Johnson, President of the Tennessee Center for Policy Research. é„*l Gore is a hypocrite and a fraud when it comes to his commitment to the environment, judging by his home energy consumption.

In the past year, Gore—´ home burned through 213,210 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity, enough to power 232 average American households for a month.

In February 2007, An Inconvenient Truth, a film based on a climate change speech developed by Gore, won an Academy Award for best documentary feature. The next day, the Tennessee Center for Policy Research uncovered that Gore—´ Nashville home guzzled 20 times more electricity than the average American household.

After the Tennessee Center for Policy Research exposed Gore—´ massive home energy use, the former Vice President scurried to make his home more energy-efficient. Despite adding solar panels, installing a geothermal system, replacing existing light bulbs with more efficient models, and overhauling the homeç—´ windows and ductwork, Gore now consumes more electricity than before the å*µreen overhaul.

Since taking steps to make his home more environmentally-friendly last June, Gore devours an average of 17,768 kWh per month 1,638 kWh more energy per month than the year before the renovations. By comparison, the average American household consumes 11,040 kWh in an entire year, according to the Energy Information Administration. The cost of Gore—´ electric bills over the past year topped $16,533.

In the wake of becoming the most well-known global warming alarmist, Gore—´ film won an Oscar, and he won a Grammy and the Nobel Peace Prize. In addition, Gore saw his personal wealth increase by an estimated $100 million thanks largely to speaking fees and investments related to global warming hysteria.

é„*ctions speak louder than words, and Gore—´ actions prove that he views climate change not as a serious problem, but as a money-making opportunity, Johnson said. 敵ore is exploiting the publicç—´ concern about the environment to line his pockets and enhance his profile.

The Tennessee Center for Policy Research, a Nashville-based free market think tank and watchdog organization, obtained information about Gore—´ home energy use through a public records request to the Nashville Electric Service.

I believe the only ban that was lifted was the federal ban on drilling. What about the state bans that I know Ca and several Atlantic states have in place? We all know how the Terminator out on the left coast feels about drilling in his skyline and Teddy Kennedy sure isn't going to allow drilling in his back yard. Or wind turbines or anything else.

We still have a long way to go before the states wake up to the facts and stop following the popular crowd.

I wouldn't be surprised if even Texas has bans on offshore drilling platforms. New ones at least. I've discovered in my short time living here that this state is a lot more liberal than most people realize.
For instance we have a farm 4 times the size of this one in Arkansas where the property tax is roughly 120 bucks a year where we're paying several thousand here.

The oil companies were banned from erecting any more pumps here on already existing wells and on their own property because the animal rights nuts got the prairie dogs put on the endangered watch list. Can you believe this crap? It's also supposedly illegal to kill them on state or federal owned land now and I've been told it's illegal to kill them on your own land too but I'd like to see someone try to stop me.

Prairie dogs have more rights than we do when it comes to drilling oil. This type of insanity has to stop or we will never come out of this slump!

Lets use the correct term. Thomas Jefferson was a liberal. Today's Marxists stole his label. Rather I would say Texas is a lot more marxist than most people realize.

Our property tax is high because we supposedly have no income tax. Our communists in the state legislature passed a new "franchise" tax on all limited liability enitity owners last year to grant "property" tax relief. This replaced the old franchise tax which was based on 4.5 percent of federal taxable income with some adjustments. I was grousing to a local politico about our property taxes going up rather than down and he said the promise was kept--the rate went down but the real estate value went up so he said that was not their fault. We need to have a Boston tea party Texas style and ban all those people from getting within 200 miles of Austin after the tarring and feathering is done.

the other day I saw a prarie dog stick his head up through a hole he had burrowed through the shoulder of a paved road. Somebody call the Green ambulance to rescue the critter before something bad happens.

The Oklahoma House recently passed a resolution putting the feds in Washington on notice that the State of Oklahoma reclaimed its rights under the 10th amendment. The Ok Senate let it go, but I understand the resolution will come back up. I am going to write my state congressman to do the same. You can bet your Texas toast that it will never come up.

I was almost mad enough about that property tax relief garbage they passed to move again. Our rate went down a bunch but all of a sudden our tax value went up something like 150% overnight. It's a good thing the max they can jack us by law every year is 10%. We've contested it both times since. Especially this time!

When we walked in with pictures of some of our neighbors places, one has constructed his own 10 acre landfill, another doesn't know how to mow his weeds, and another entire family doesn't have jobs and stays home drinking beer all day long and collecting garbage. They are bad enough that I can smell them here, a mile away. Two race tracks border our property too. The noise doesn't bother me really at all but it will not help resale value any. One of them is a drag strip and they had jet powered funny cars out the other night. Man was that loud! It brought back some unpleasant memories of living in a berthing 1 deck under the aft end of the flight deck on an aircraft carrier for a couple of years. We had F-4 Phantoms and were just switching to F-18's back then. Those car engines sure sounded like an F4 engine at full power!

The county called us this time just before the hearing and said no need to come in, what do you want us to do? I figured that would be their stance. They can't prove my value has gone up at all and they know it. They just want more money so they artificially inflate the property values. One of these days they will turn off the darn lights at the new football stadium at the nearby public highschool. That has turned into a pet peeve of mine. I wonder how much energy all those lights burn? It's the middle of summer vacation right now and they are still on. They haven't been turned off in months. It's 5 miles away and is so bright I can see my horses in the middle of night out in my pasture.

Anyway, I see oil prices are going down fast right now. Just like I thought. The federal ban got lifted so the speculators don't quite know what to do.
It will go back up as soon as they figure out the states still all have bans in place. Hopefully that will change too and oil prices can get back to a level where I can afford to buy some food and new clothes for the family. We've been running on fumes around here for too long with this garbage.

I don't think there's any place to move to. We are going European and there's not another America to go to to escape the heavy hand of government. The bright spot in 1776 was a once in history event and it is now fading pretty fast.

So yesterday i put some fuel in my truck for $4.71.9/ gal :)eek:  )....... and tonight i'm listening to the news snippet on the radio on the 45 minute drive home. They say crude has dropped to $129 / bbl ........ dropping for the third striaght day (from something like $146 / bbl). Yet..... the truckstop where i purchased my fuel YESTERDAY raised the price 8c /gal to $4.79.9 today. (????????????????). Interesting , isn't it..... this sham?? When a barrel or crude goes up, the price at the pump goes up THAT DAY. When the price of crude drops (substantially)....... the price at the pump...... still goes up????
