Buying Advice Wolff Limb Clipper

Anyone own or have ever used a limb cutter by wolff MFG, thinking about buying one any advice

That's a pretty specialized piece of equipment. And probably expensive. Sophisticated, but personally I'd want something simpler, less expensive and more versatile.

I emailed them and the tree shear is $3900 + shipping and the Limb Shear is $1500 + shipping

No hoses with either

That design looks simple and quick to home build and for sure not $1500. Some scrap 1" plate, a few bolts and a cylinder plus whatever mounting hardware you wanted to use.

On Ebay, a new unit is $1400. Used handheld saws are $400.

It would be hard to build a compatible system and save any money. It could be done, no doubt but is it really a cost effective build?? JMHO

Did you ever work out the hydraulic chainsaw?

The steel is 3/4 n , cutting blade is 6 in wide, 20 in long.

8 or 10 in cyl.

Made out of stuff I had laying around.

My hyd are 3000 psi.

No, but have a good idea how to make it work.

The chainsaw is closed center, and my hyd are open center.

J_J that's great. And it looks like you can turn it horizontal, is that the case?

Then all you would need is a vertical riser and longer hoses and you could trim tree tops. That's what I want, to keep my trees from growing up into the power lines.

I have a 4 way adapter to change direction.

Pointed down, I can cut roots after digging a hole.
