The ten series has not been out all that long but I can't help but wonder what might be next? I'm sure Deere is currently working on something. If you, as an owner could provide feedback on the prodcut line what would you suggest? Just wondering what others might say. Here are some of things I have thought of in the short time I have had a 4310. I just ordered a 4410. I thought this might be an interesting discussion.

Since I got a 48 backhoe with my 4410. An operator area that allowed the seat to turn around to allow use of the backhoe without getting off the tractor.

A factory cab option that had heat and air options as well as panels that removed for the summer. I would also like to see it compatable with a backhoe. I recently saw a picture of a really slick cab on a NH.

The diff lock I feel is pretty crude in function compared to the rest of the e-hydro options. I don't use it that often as I feel I might break it if not engaged correctly.

The Kubota L-grand series has a speed reading if I recall. Be a nice addition to the e-hydro.

I would like a factory clock option and a cup holder on the other side of the e-hydro options.

I would like a way to come off cruise by tapping the brakes and not skidding the tires so I could just hit resume once I turn around. Currently I press the forward pedal right before I tap the brake.

Relocate the fuel fill if possible.

Maybe a hydro option without all the e stuff for those that are concerned about the electronics?

A built in tilt meter?

I feel my 4310 feels narrow at times. I wish it had some tires options that provided a wider track for safer slope work. I have read how 45XX and up owners feel much better about that.

Flow some of the 42XX and up features down to the 41XX series.

Bring back a flavor of the 755, 855, and 955 series?

Great ideas!

I actually like the two seat BH design.

Adjustable width wheels come with the R!s. They aren't as aggressive as some r1s, and have worked well for me. That seems to be a little noticed difference in the tire debate...

Right on with the cab option.

There is the MidPTO control that doesn’t make any sense,

Improved lights. There are never too many.

I actually prefer the “quiet” look of the electronics. While ground speed would be nice, I don’t want a pinball machine on the dash…

Even quieter engines (like the new Cummins, etc)

A new, quick fill tire ballast feature, allowing the operator to add and remove tire ballast as desired.

I previously owned a 4400 and 4600 JD (now I own a TC 40D NewHolland) and always wanted the option of being able to operate the mid and rear pto separately from one another. Better lighting especially with the loader attached would be beneficial. I agree with the other posters that all of the compact utility tractors could be quieter. I would sacrifice a little hp and fuel economy to get a quieter tractor. I would like to see Deere re-engineer the safety attachment they have to lock the loaders to the tractor. Its not a big deal but there should be an easier way than the current system.

I see some common threads in this.

I have to agree about a quieter engine.

I forgot in my post to mention about the mid PTO working on it's own.

I agree with better lighing as well. I do have all the work lights but there are no switches to control them other than the master. Working on adding some switches for the added work lights. Be nice if there was a built in switch bank with power supplied that one could just attach the work lights to.

Be nice if this thread could run for awhile gathering comments and then submit it to Deere for there review. Wonder if peope at Deere monitor these forums or how one could get in there feedback channel? Just as the new X L&G series was being released there was an on-line Q&A session on that product with Deere engineers. Very useful and I felt it got some good info back to Deere as well.

How about fixing the rinky dink, stamped out beer can, MMM height adjustment and the Tonka toy tilt steering wheel? /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif Relocating the fuel tank opening so I don't have to wrestle fuel cans up on the tractor and spill fuel all over the top of the hood. Fixing the MMM release handle so it does not have to be bent to work with the grill guard/front loader. Separate operation of each PTO. Oil pressure guage. Oil temp guage. Wider adjustment for width of wheels so I can go on a steeper slope. Larger oil filter and fuel filter.

Next models which should be 20 Series......... how about a 49,49, 50, & 51 series? 53 hp, 58, hp, 63 hp, & 68 hp? (Tim Allen growl !!!! Arrrrggh Arrrrghh Arrrrgh! /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

I don't own a 4310 yet but am looking at one to replace my 755. So the only thing I know to comment on is the stupid arrangement for the mid PTO operation. If it can't be made independent of the rear PTO as it should be, at least put an interlock on the switch so it can not be activated or deactivated when the rear PTO is running. This thing alone really tarnished my image of JD.

The other thing I observed is that the hydraulic filter (I think) is exposed underneath the the floor on one side. Easy to get to but I can see a branch or something smacking a hole in it. It should be better protected although I have not read anyone complaining about it.

I was thinking perhaps instead of using old Kubota numbers like 4610 and 4310, they would come up with an entirely new number that isn't being used or was not used in the last 20 years or so. Other then that, what else is there to improve on! Rat...

How about a 4810 (52HP?) and 4910 (55HP?) with bigger engines and even bigger chasis that will give the 5205, 5210, and the 5220 some good competition for those who want comparable HP in a utility tractor that now exists in those ag lines.

Funny coincidence - I was just wondering myself on the way into work this morning if Deere might be planning something along those lines to compete with the new big 30 series Kubota and big TC that's supposed to be coming.

Fun as it sounds I wonder if it would ever happen. The 5x05 series is only a tick larger as it is now - and the 5x20 just that much bigger again. How much bigger (wheelbase, engine displacement, etc.,) could they make a 4710 before it is nothing more than a deluxe 5x05? (Hmm now maybe that's not a bad idea...) /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

My thoughts on a 4210:
Most I have heard posted before and I agree with them.

Move PTO switch so falling objects do not shut off you PTO (Peach from a Peach tree).

Make Mid and Rear PTO independant

More Lights

Better Parking Brake

Flipover seat for BH

Rear lighting

Easier way to fuel

Tim,

When Deere was only making the 4x00 series a few years ago, they topped out with the 4600. Then, after a couple years, they introduced the 4700 for those who wanted a little extra oomph. I believe they used the same chassis and everything else. They just put in a bigger engine of about 3HP that produced more torque. They carried everything over into the 4x10 series when they made refinements to the tranny options and added a few other extra goodies. Now, it just seems logical to provide a 4810 and 4910 with a slightly bigger chassis and engines for those of us who still want a compact frame tractor but with even more HP.

I at one time looked at the 5220 but decided against it for two reasons. It was too big to get in my garage (that vertical exhaust pipe would have hit the top of my garage door frame)and a bit too wide to negotiate narrow paths through the woods. But, if they built a smaller 4810 or 4910 that was not as wide as the 5220 which comes with a side exhaust like the 4x10 series does and additional HP, then I would love to trade up to one of these babies.

A hydro fill cap that can be reached with Power Beyond installed.

BTW the Idea for a quieter engine came while I was getting ready to suggest Adaptive Noise Reduction for the operator station. Some new planes have it in the cockpits. I decides a quieter engine was more doable...

BTW I like the Tilt Steering mechanism. It seems sturdy and Tractor Like. I don't expect it to snap in half...

There will be HID lighting.

The next IMatch will have hydraulic connectors for attachments which will be hydraulic powered. All will connect automatically. Now can the hydraulics power a rotary cutter?

More plastic. (Kubota Owners don't hate 'em enough /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif )

Top amd Tilt as Standard Equip. Go one better than the L30s 3PH.

Did anyone mention the MidPTO? /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

How 'bout mini brushguards for the pto knobs?

Bob,

It does seem from what I've read over time that each time Deere comes out with a new series there is a hestitation to bring out the big gun. (1070->4700->4710) The heavy hitter of the series is always the last one to the party.

But with the 5x05 series only being a few inches longer in wheelbase (and actually lower overall if I remember the numbers) there's not much room to shoehorn something in between. Sounds like the 4710 is already about as much power as you can use in that weight class - but again the 5x05 isn't that much heavier.

What I do like about the 5x20 (and I think it's true of the 5x05 as well) is the much more adjustable MFWD front axle.

Put a little more beef where it counts, the front axle of the '05 and maybe around a 145 cube engine and that would make a nice 4810.

(And get rid of most the infernal electronics-my opinion-except make a 60-amp plus alt. standard. Can't have too much lighting, my eyes must be getting old). /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I'll buy that. Bigger engine, beefier front axle, bigger front wheels.....all of this would be an improvement over the 4710 in terms of power generation and potential FEL lift capacity. With increased power and a bigger axle and tires, one might be able to hitch the FEL to an even bigger bucket with greater capacity. I have always thought these 460 buckets are a bit small compared to the buckets on the 5000 series tractors.

I have the beefier front axle on my JD 4400 /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif....not the lightweight newer version. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Put the PTO controls on the dashboard. I turned it off with my arm once , dont have peach trees.
Move the cupholder away from the switches.
Make a tool box that can hold a hammer. That curve is useless.
DONT change the 2 pedal eHydro, or the everything is on the right side that needs checking.
