Wondering about when my GC2410 was at the dealer

Our experiance with our dealers will color our whole buying experiance. Sounds like your dealer and MF have let you down. You paid for everything and didn't get it without a fight. I would be unhappy too.

My wife and I played with our 2310 for about half an hour at the dealership before purchasing. We didn't have as many hours on ours but I can see how hours could build up.

When we bought our snowblower the dealer offered free shipping if it came in with a scheduled shipment. I don't know if we waited longer but we didn't pay shipping. When it did come in they picked it up (for free) installed everything and brought it back (60mi round trip).

I haven't bought or needed chains for snowthrowing. 4wd has gotten me out of everything without having to lock the rear diff. As to the rusty and dirty, i gues if they didn't have obvious wear mark they are new chains that weren't well preserved in storage/shipment.

I have been delighted with my tractor and wish I had gotten it sooner. Good luck and I hope your experiance gets better.

I don't expect to need the chains either, but I got them as insurance. Maybe it was an unnecessary expenditure.

The spare fuses and fuse tweezer should be located in the main fuse box. Look there.

The rear PTO has a plastic cover that is slightly larger than the shaft, and a larger, metal cover with flat top and angled sides. I have taken both off and left them off for convenience. I don't think my tractor came with a cover for the mid PTO.

The warranty is a generic, one-page document that covers all classes of MF tractor equipment. This should be available as a downloadable PDF, but like the manuals, it's not. AGCO should make all this stuff available online as far as I'm concerned. But a purchaser should definitely get a hard copy at time of purchase!

My round trip to the dealer is about 210 miles (my valley is VERY removed). We agreed at time of purchase that I would pay their normal hauling charge, $100, when it came time to bring in the tractor for the subframe and snowblower. But now I feel justified in asking for no charge on that. Or else I will return the chains and be looking to minimize my future business with the dealer.

my 2410 had 2.6 hours on it, with the creeping pedal repair already done. i paid for it and loaded it on my trailer.

are you saying you paid full price for a snowblower 6 months ahead of time, and you live that far back in the boonies and you don't have a trailer or some means of hauling your own equipment?:confused2:

no offense intended, but these are some odd circumstances.:)

My 2400 had 1.9 hours at the time of purchase. My dealer is 14 miles from me, in another state.........so no sales tax.
Tractor was purchased without FEL(only the 60" mmm on the lot).
Dealer ordered FEL, and after 5 weeks, and a call to AGCO........I got the FEL, and the owners manual for the tractor. Snowblower is on order.
Love my Massey.

For some, not having a trailer would be crazy. But for me it's a rational economic decision--I won't be working offsite with the tractor and I will do my own routine maintenance. The occasional haul fee for repairs will be well worth not having to pay thousands for a trailer, and having another thing to take care of. Lots of neighbors go the same way and have the dealer haul their tractor when needed. Too many as well as too few possessions and gear can lower the quality of life. As for paying for the snowblower up front, it was all part of getting a lower package price. With interest rates so low, I wouldn't earn much on that cash anyway.

Scott, you can make up covers for the PTO shafts by using appropriate lengths of 1" heater hose. When I made mine, I glued a spray can (window cleaner) cap on one end. Slips on, stays put, works great.

Irvingj, so your cover fits tight on the PTO and spins with it? Are your reasons for having it to keep the shafts clean and prevent chipping of the metal from objects on the ground?

When my GC 2410 came last week, it only had 0.9 hours on it. It makes me wonder if the creeping pedal repair was done...I have not heard of that recall.

Scott, absolutely. I too saw in the owner's manual about mid PTO cover and asked... nobody knew anything about it, or so it seemed. We even looked at another new 2310 on the lot and saw that it didn't have a cover for the mid PTO, either.

I do have the factory one on the rear which is held in with a bolt, which I've left on, since I --currently, at least-- have no 3PH implements.

The short one goes over the mid-PTO when I'm using the FEL/BH combination. I also made a couple for the MMM, snow blower & quick-hitch assembly shafts while they're in storage.

Yes, the mid-PTO cover stays on just fine, though I'll admit I haven't tried it while running the PTO... no need to.

I wasn't sure there even was such a thing as 1" heater hose, but there is. It fits fairly snugly, and keeps the shaft grease clean and in place nicely. I figured at the very least it would keep dirt & debris off the shaft splines, and it has worked well in that regard. I bought about 3' of it from an auto parts store for about $3, I think.

it was explained to me that, particularly the forward pedal, under slight load the tractor would 'dig in' and start pushing harder on its own... and the harder the resistance, the harder it would push. say if you were trying to fill the bucket with dirt, the machine would go after the pile all by itself;)

i never had it happen, but from the way it was explained i can see why dealers are doing it on their own before people take delivery.

evidently some of the hydraulic lines have to be disconnected from the valve body (under the floor near the pedal mechanisms) in order to do the repair.
