While I agree with you coobie, I agree with him.

He was talking about UAW udiots in Detroit. I have first hand experience with them. I do not support anything they do.

I also have fist hand experience with ibew. I am not currently a member, got promoted to management. But. I support them, they have turds and good people like any union. I think they have more good ones though.

A union is to keep a group of skilled workers from being taken advantage of (ibew). It is not meant to keep ditch diggers living next to doctors(uaw).

As for the lineman asleep in his crew truck, there are alot of factors. He could have just worked 18hrs with 6 off, could have worked 5-16s with 8 hrs off between, etc. Benefit of the doubt. Alot of trades are still honest.

There you have it.I worked many 20 hour days on with 4 hours sleep off.Our only chance to catch some sleep was between jobs while my journeyman drove the truck.I always love the I GOT this story BS.And yes there are lazy union folks just like any other trades or jobs it seems folks always want to jab the union. If the truth be told they might be somewhat jealous union jobs pay more.God only knows the CEO,s running some of these companies into the ground making Millions of $$ are hard at work.LOL

"I'll never buy another Chevy"....

Well, best of luck finding anything to drive....because they all make crap vehicles. Paint peeled off my previous new Ford truck within the 3 year warranty period. Went to dealer, they said "Yeah....we consider the miles on it, and with what we charge for a paint job, you'd be better off to go to a paint/body shop and get it done".....which I did, and the paint stayed on the truck for the next 10 years with no problem.

U joints went out around 50k miles. They have no grease fittings, sealed for "life", which apparently is 50k miles. NON OEM replacements had grease fittings, still on the truck when I sold it years later.

Switched to Chevy, 2003 Silverado 2500HD. Differential cover RUSTED OUT in 5 years....leaked out the lube, ruined the rear end. WHO ever heard of a rusted out differential cover ???? Metal was clearly stamped from used crap steel. You could stick a screwdriver in it and peel large flakes of metal off. Very rarely do they salt the roads here.

Neighbor is a big Dodge truck fan. All kinds of front end issues with ball joints, brakes, etc.

So tell me.....WHO makes a good solid truck that will last 10-15 years like it should ??

Disc brakes are easier to replace. I have the tools to do drums and they are really pretty cheap to buy. My problem I do not work on them very often. Disc brakes also cool better under hard use.

Lol my guess is you can稚 afford a new truck as you couldn稚 be more wrong in that statement. Trucks now from all manufactures are actually WAY better than years past.

You guess I can't afford a truck? you don't have a clue..

Go buy a new truck and drive it for 10 years, let us know how all the electronics are treating you in that time frame.. I have bought without putting to much thought into it probably 15 new trucks, all different kinds, some better than others but as a whole they are all junks..

By the way while you're "guessing" who can afford what, you might want to space you're posts out so people can read them not that they are of any use..

Two 2007 Toyota Tundra’s have hit a million miles, both motors being built in Toyota’s San Antonio, TX plant. However, most don’t consider the Tundra a true work truck. Toyota is very conservative in making “improvements” to their vehicles, lagging behind the big three in features and only offering a simple N/A V8 rather than complex direct injected turbo models. Hopefully, Toyota doesn’t go the DI turbo route with their 2021 redesigns and they keep a simple N/A V8 offering in the Tundra.

Personally, all I want is a simple V8 in a chassis that will last a long time. My next truck will either be a Tundra or a Ford Super Duty with the new pushrod, forged crank, N/A, 7.3L gas motor.

NO problem, go home and sleep!! Don't make me pay 39 bucks an hour for you to sleep!!

BTW, I was in the ibew for a few years too, we were building steel towers across the state. The boss sat in the truck with the motor running (winter) while we worked.

And, what about the wasted hour and a half, waiting for a gal to show up to tighten 3 lugs?? THEN having someone else tighten them??

There were two truck loads of guys standing around that day... How much is that @ $39 per hr.?

Ya got it all union folks are lazy.Really?I was a electric lineman(UNION) that kept your power on 24-7 in Michigan for 39 years before I retired. The electric fairy comes in the middle of the night, day, ice storm, thunderstorms and waves his magical wand then the lights come back on all by themselves.Lazy union BASTURDS..I get it now,Some folks have NO CLUE..

I never complain when my power bills come in because my father was a troubleman for 45 years.. Not an easy job all the time like some people think..

Any new vehicle I buy these days is in my driveway for no more than 5 years, I feel bad for the people that have to buy them after I'm done with them, just a ticking time bomb is all they are..

Power windows, electronic everything out the heat and cold, road salt, nothing good, they don't have a chance..

It's true. People that can't afford a new vehicle sure as sheit won't be ablt to afford a used one. Since there won't be a market for vehicles more than a few years old, it has to reflect in the initial cost of ownership.
