Wood Flooring

I work with a woman who just re-did her entire first floor of her house in a ceramic tile that looks like wood planks. They are 4 inches wide and 16 inches long. With very narrow grout lines it looks just like real wood. She said it comes in a variety of wood tone colors. She brough in a sample and I was impressed. Will consider it over the laminates and wood when I build. She said it was new to the market and just became available.

I've seen something similar to that in a commercial product; chances are most everyone has seen it at one time or another, probably without realizing what it was -- They use a wood-grain ceramic tile as the floor in many Burger King rest rooms. I'm not in the habit of closely examining the floors in public rest rooms, but this one intrigued me enough that I leaned over and tapped on it to see what it was. It looked like wood, but I was certaint that BK would not be using a wood product in their rest room floors. Since then, I've seen it in several of their stores. ...I'm not sure I'd tell my co-worker where the floor is commonly used; she might not appreciate the comparison... /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
