Seems that every year the wood pellet brands that local stores carry keep changing. This year, I wasn't able to get my full inventory from my normal dealer since he was sold out. I picked up additional pellets from Walmart that are two different brands. I have Future Fuel, which burns well, but is hard to start. I also am using Homewood, however, it doesn't seem to burn as well or as hot. What are your experiences with the current wood pellet situation?

Not very good this year. We got very busy at work this fall with all the rain and I did not have a chance to stock up. Now if I find some the stores want almost $7.00 a bag. For that price it is cheaper to just set the thermostat on the boiler and pay the oil man when he sends me the bill.:D

I've only used two different types so far, Lowes private labeled harwood and some Canadian softwood. The hardwood produced less ash so, this year I stocked up with (a different brand) hardwood from Lowes. I'm still burning the remaining softwood ones from last season so, no experience with the new ones yet. I didn't notice any difference in heat output between the previous two. I paid $5+ per bag and $65 delivery for three pallets. I don't think there is significant savings over oil (at least now). When I bought them earlier this year, oil was higher than it is now.
