Wood Splitter Mod

I have a Huskee 35 ton (wicked good used deal). I split by myself and it would be such a time saver if the split function would continue on its own like the retract function does.
I realize the safety implications so lets not go in that direction.
What modification would put a 'detent' on the split direction?

A different valve that is detent in both directions.

Use a mechanical solution. When the cylinder retracts it should press some way on the lever and repeat the cycle.

Prince makes an auto valve that solves all that. It is a two lever valve that when both levers are set, the splitter will extend, the extend lever returns to neutral. The cyl then retracts and the valve will shift the second lever to neutral. It also has PB.
