Did that polar vortex reach you folks, too? We're finally getting some relief from the bitter cold, otherwise I'd be asking you to share some of that +50.:D

Yes it did. We had a high of -2 Monday.

OOF! That's coooldd, even for us north of the 49th. But we had somewhere around -24C; that's -11F for you. Maybe that was close to what you had for an over-night low? Our current temp is around -4C - 25F and we're thinking it's kinda nice for a change.

The snow is almost all gone now. Had a warm weekend of about 50 Sat and 60 today. Here are a couple views of the frame. The uprights fit snugly between a round tube at the top of the bucket and the bottom so the up and down movement is limited. The side frames are the width of the bucket so no side to side movement. I just used 2 x 4s since most of the pressure is directly back putting them in compression. The screws pulled out of one but I didn't even notice until I was finished and pulling it off the tractor. Should probably use a bit more/longer/bigger screws - I just used one or two 2-1/2" drywall screws in each connection. And maybe add a cross brace to handle the side loads...

Man you gotta get a welder!

Bolts, screws, or dowels work better for me. I haven't had any luck welding wood.

Jim,

My neighbor and I were talking about this exact thing today after clearing my quarter mile gravel driveway. I believe your design is the best I've seen. I'm going to build something similar, but may add a modification based on a wooden manure box I made a few months ago. I'm going to incorporate the steel FEL quick connect backplate as I did on the wooden bucket.

I'll keep you posted.

Cheers,
Mac

Following up to see how this plow held up for you?

Pretty much recreation of 1910 snow plow pushed by 4 horses.

Screw connections pretty much gonna come apart from impact. Suggest between storms you unscrew, open joint and put Gorilla Glue on faying surfaces and put screws back in to hold while glue sets up. Probably fast set time due to water in de wood.

Finding 4 horse hitch willing to push a plow may be hard dese days.
