I was told today that Woods is coming out with a sub-frame mounted backhoe for the BX2200. It is supposed to be released in August. The dealer says he saw a "bootleg photocopy" of a picture at a recent tradeshow. Can anybody confirm this or know any more info?

My apologies if this has been discussed before.

Thanks,

Jim

My guess it will be pricey!

Might be high enough to warrant a trade up from a 2200 to BX23, don't know.

Right now I can't afford it either way.

according to my local dealer, the bh is in production....estimated cost is a bit north of 5000....still might be cheaper than a new bx23 if you have upgrades to the bx2200 that will be depreciated away at trade in time.....

I think if I needed a backhoe, I would just trade my 2200 in on a BX23. I'm sure that if I traded or sold my 2200, added $7-8000, I could come away with a backhoe, new tractor, new MMM, and a new FEL. That is with my 2200, 4 years old with 730 hours. I imagine those with newer, fresher 2200's would do better.

Will, my trade of a BX2200 with FEL and 130 hrs for a BX22 (I kept my 60" MMM) had a net difference of about $8K. And that was the "better" of the deals by $2K. This was in late 2002. Higher hours would likely make the difference more as would the fact that the BX23 is selling for a bit more at list. That's more than an add-on 'hoe, but I'd probably still do what I did just because the BX22/23 'hoe is so well mated to the machine, including the frame beefing.

Jim; My numbers are probably off, but I would still trade for $9-10,000 rather than spend $5,000 on just a backhoe. The reasons you mention about the BX 23 set-up make perfect sense to me.

My point exactly, Will. If I were doing it again, I'd still do the trade (or private sale) and get the "new" machine in total. I'm just more comfortable with that, especially on such a small machine.

Your numbers were off; they still are. The dealers use a formula depreciating just the tractor itself at $10/hr. Hate to tell you Will, but your tractor's almost fully depreciated by the formula a dealer would give, then they'd depreciate the FEL too. They'd tell you to just keep the MMM, 'cause it fits both models. Of course, you could do a lot better selling the tractor privately then buying new.

Lots of us have been following these other 2 threads for awhile waiting to see how the Woods AND the new Wallenstein BHs do on our 2200s. Many of us don't want to trade, not only 'cause of the higher cost, but also 'cause we don't care for the so called "enhancements" on the 23. I don't need a tractor that decides to turn itself off just 'cause I lift off the seat to see a little better; I want to decide for myself when to turn it off.

Now I don't want to be the 1st guinea pig to test out one of these babies; I'll wait & see how others of you like them 1st. But IF they do the job, (and that "if" waits to bee seen), no way I'm simply gonna toss an extra 5 Gs just so I can see "Bota" painted on all 3 parts of T...L...B. My $ gets earned a little too hard for that. If I were going to trade "up", I think I'd actually go UP, to a B series or a NH TC with Super-Steer.

O.K. guys (oh, sorry Handymam, gals too) which one of you plans to be first to fetch one of these puppies and tell the rest of us how she does? Seriously, please post if you plan to get a Woods or Wallenstein as soon as it hits the market.

Tom....... I too have been following this and find it interesting that Woods is willing to do what Kubota isn't. I just finished reading about the new backhoe at **** dot com, and even though it seems to be "engineered" for the smaller tractors, I have my doubts as to how well it will be accepted. For one, it isn't removable like the BX22/23 and there is no mention if you will still be able to use the MMM with the backhoe attachment. These questions are yet to be answered. Over all, the only positive thing that I have seen that makes the Woods a better product than the OEM version is a 16" hoe bucket. Now the question to be answered is "will the hoe be able to dig successfully with a 16" bucket or will it be too much for the hydraulics"?

Apparently my post has been edited as to the location of the information. I find this to be ludicrous, because to think that the other site might even slightly infringe on this site is like King Kong being attacked by an ant. I have seen the other site and there isn't even one post by anyone other than the administrator. It is a shame that there is such insecurity when you all ready are the largest and best....
