Backhoe Woods BH80x or Kubota BH77?

I've got the 80x on a ford 1720. Mechanical thumb. Having a thumb is better than no thumb but I would definitely go hydraulic over mechanical. Way more convenient. It's still a tiny backhoe. I don't even bother with stumps anymore. If you want to dig stumps rent and ex.

Here is an old thread about adding a hydro thumb to a bh77. Towards the end of thread a member posts a link to his you tube video build of the hydro mod.

As others mentioned, I also would suggest contacting other dealers, whether a Kubota dealer or not, as it's been my experience you can get a wide range of prices on Woods products from various dealers.

Btw, In your first post you wrote mostly for stumping and holding logs, as morning wood just posted a reference on capability, how large of stumps are you thinking and what species tree? I agree a mechanical thumb is way better than no thumb, but for what you outlined a mechanical thumb would work.

I've got the Woods bh90x I'm very happy with it, your pricing seems to be way out of line, I got mine for around 8500 shipped, that's not including sales tax since I bought it out of state. I ordered mine from Rosseels Farm and garden in lower Michigan, check out their pricing I couldn't beat it.
I don't know about the bh77 but I guess some of the Kubota hoes use a single swing cylinder and don't have a full 180 degree range of motion, that would be completely unacceptable to me.

That is only on the subcompact that are single swing, an not just Kubota, other brands as well. I have Wallenstein on my 1423 an my tractor does have a double swing, an 180 degree swing. There isn't too many small backhoes that are like that.

I just looked at Rosseels website and they have a BH80-X for $5900 minus the sub frame and thumb. I am still waiting on a few more local quotes but it might be cheaper to have it shipped from Michigan. It is even Kubota orange!

Yep they've got good prices and were good to deal with, they actually sent out the wrong bucket with mine and took care of it immediately when I called.

I will be digging mostly small alder trees. I thought about renting a mini but I would rather put the money towards a backhoe instead, I love collecting new toys! Plus I'm not in any sort of hurry to get the job done. And I burn a lot of firewood every year and cutting off the ground is SOOO much better

I am looking to add a backhoe to my L3700SU sometime soon.

I know the BH77 is very easy to remove from tractor. How easy is for the 80X to be removed?
