I have a Woods RD990X finishing mower that needs new blades. Problem is, the present blades haven't been changed for years and after removing the bolt that holds the blade's pin lock and removing the lock, the pins the blades pivot on won't come out! I suspect they're likely rusted in-place. I've tried penetrating oil, heating, tapping, etc. but nothing works.
Seems to me that if I could drop the blade spindle shaft down, I could then put the entire blade assembly in a hydraulic press and push the pins out. My question is, if I remove the pulley on the top of spindle shaft, will the shaft drop down and out?
Any suggestions appreciated!
