What does that leave as acceptable locations?

When cars couple, you can get thrown off. I recall riding a car down a slight grade while riding a car. We struck the coupler on some parked cars and really felt a jolt. Maybe they don't want employees riding the car while coupling them?

In the NS Elkhart yard, some of the switching locomotives are remote controlled. You can tell which ones by the flashing yellow lights on the tops of the locomotives.

A friend sent a YT link of a couple doing the Denver CO to Moab UT scenic route. They only travel during the day and spend the night at a hotel in Glenwood Springs. The basic trip is $1,699 or a fancier upgrade with food and exclusive lounge car options over $2K. Since they are the lowest priority there were several delays on their trip.
