Doc,
Do any of the Quad Cities TV stations know about this? It would be a great human interest story.

Do you have plans to enter her in the Ft Madison Rodeo?

Curt,

Believe it or not the local stations said it wasn't a local story so they weren't interested. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif Nevermind that she was interviewed by 40 other stations and invited to the Today show. Oh well. Nobody from the midwest has ever won this before either. Nobody from the midwest has ever won any kind of world championship in barrel racing.

As far as Fort Madison the older ladies in the PRCA got tired of these kids beating them. A couple years ago they passed a rule that you now have to be 18 yo to compete in the PRCA. Another one of those /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

So when is she flying to NYC to be on the Today show?

That would be a trip she'd never forget /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I bet head's would roll at channel 6 if she appeared on the Today Show and management found out their editors "weren't interested" at the local level.

Recognition among her peers and by those involved in the sport are more important anyway. Besides, she knows what she accomplished and that's priceless.

It would have been an experience but we had to decline. They wanted us to bring her horse and with all the traveling we have been doing it was impossible for us to get there. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Richard,
Congrats to your daughter, you and your wife, the rest of the family, her horse... well you get the picture. As others have said, this is an acdcomplishment for the whole family. She couldn't have done it without you. By the way, I noticed a mention of straight A grades in the press release. Congrats on that too.

Be sure that horse gets a carrot! Oh wait, I'm sure that your daughter has already taken care of that! Girls and their horses, ya gotta love that.

Oh, and I don't care what your local station says, this is a REALLY BIG DEAL.
