I live and work 26 miles south of the DC beltway. My girlfriend's mom is a personal secretary for a service secretary in the Pentagon. We haven't heard anything yet. Every federal building in DC is closed, my navy base is closing for the rest of the afternoon.

While there are federal laws against assassination, there were fewer people killed from Pearl Harbor. Once war is declared, we can takout anyone deemed worthy of a bullet. Someone just earned an entire ammo box.

We are all going to be victims of this. Although, not as tragic as the innocent people directly affected. The persons responsible for this have struck an all-time low in humanity.

This is the most horrific national event in my lifetime (I was born right AFTER WWII). I don't think any of us can fully realize the ramifications of what happened just 6 hours ago. Our country is virtually shut down as a matter of national security. ALL air travel is suspended, our stock market is closed, out military command center is burning, the president himself has been relocated to undisclosed location, thousands have been killed or injured. We are at war, and we're not totally sure who the enemy is yet.

The ripple effect has reached the west coast here already. Major buildings and all schools in San Francisco have been evacuated, and there is talk of closing the Golden Gate Bridge and others. As I watch TV at this moment, more and more of the Bay Area is closing down as a precautionary measure.

Unbelievable. Simply unbelievable.

better fill your gas tanks, if these attacks turn out to have come from the mideast, gas prices will go sky high for as long as its available.

in indy the prices are around 3-4 dollars a gallon. i just left work to fill up at 1.54 a gallon take out a loan to fill up

I dropped my wife off at the Austin airport this morning at 7AM for a trip to see her family. Although we are isolated by distance from the events, it was chilling to think of the others who dropped their loved ones off at the airport this morning and who got on those four illfated planes. She was flying American. She called me at work about the time I heard the news and said they were on the plane and then pulled them off and told them the airport was shutting down. I left work and picked her up. The first thing I did was hold her and give her a big kiss.

May God be with those who have lost their lives in this tragedy.

Not to be insensitive, but has anyone heard anything out of Bill Clinton who's office is in Harlem NYC or Hillary Clinton who is the jr Senator from NY? Their silence seems strange since the media is interviewing everyone and their brother.

Peter Jennings keeps pushing the "missing president" button and commenting on what "other" presidents would be doing in this situation.

My prayers are for the Lord to comfort all these families who are suffering from these acts.
