This has to be the worst diesel can ever

I'm sure it is safe but it won't even pour fuel out. Not only that but when you put the bigger diesel nozzle in it to fill - the larger filler nozzle just fits in the hole which prevents air from exiting easily and blows it everywhere. I could probably deal with that, just use the smaller nozzle, but it simply will not empty into the tractor tank. I ended up using a funnel but that splashes it everywhere.

Has anyone modified this type of container to make it work - I have two and would like to make them work - or last resort these go in the trash and I buy new ones. Ideas would be helpfull

Hit up your local tire shop for a short valve stem, remove the core, drill a hole in the back (top edge opposite the handle) and fish the valve into the hole. Put the cap on the stem when transporting and remove it when pouring fuel.

I have one that looks exactly like it. I've only use a small nozzle to fill it though. But my plan is to drill a hole on the far side of the handle and insert a tire valve in the hole. This should vent it whether pouring into the tractor or if using a large nozzle to fill the can.

I can't take credit for the idea, read it in another thread. Use a wire to thread it into the hole from the spout. Remove the core and just use the cap. I haven't done this yet, but plan to probably this weekend.

Edit: 2 guys faster than me. Must be a good idea though.

I use a shake siphon to avoid the whole problem. I just sit the can on a pad on the hood and shake the get the flow going. I can refill in a few minutes without having to maneuver these cans so much. And I suggest hitting some auctions in your area. I have gotten some almost new diesel cans with the old-style nozzles that work recently for about $2 each.

You might try one of these also. I read about them in another thread and ordered 3 of them. Works good for me so far. EZ-POUR

I found a couple of metal cans by Eagle that work great. I have a five gallon diesel can and a 5 gallon gas can, been using them for a couple of years with no issues. Ace hardware has them. I found mine at Sunbelt Rentals. They are about $50.00 apiece now but well worth it IMHO.

I have that same yellow plastic can and thought it was a total POS until i did the valve stem addition and now it's my favorite can by far.
