If moving 5' or 6' round bales is something you'll have to do more than once, I don't think the 2501 is going to get you there. Chassis weight of 2400 pounds, and lift at the pins of 1100 pounds to full height will not lift or carry round bales.
If you take that task out of the equation, you should be fine with a 5' brush hog.

Ended up pulling the trigger on a L4701 with FE Loader, 72" grapple, 72" rotary cutter, box blade, pallet forks and hay spear.
Used the tractor today to bush hog the back 5 acres that had brush from 4' to 7' tall - tractor did the job without issue. So far happy with my purchase.

You took a substantial jump up in size. That should serve you very well.
Yes - as I was looking the choice was more between 2501 - 4701 and MX5800. The 4701 kinda splits the difference in size and I was concerned the bigger MX tractor wouldn't work well in woods and tighter areas. Online sources weem to indicate the MX had a more powerful FEL but the brochures I got from Kubota indicate they are fairly similar in capacity. Bush hogging today I felt like I would have been in trouble if I had something with a lot less power.

Good choice on the 4701. I love my 2501 so much my wife calls it "That other Women" and having said this, I often think of the 4701 when mowing heavy grass with the brush hog but as I am never in a hurry I remain mostly delighted with what I have. For most all I do the 2501 is great performer with no added items for emissions and the price is terrific!
