I think I would just enjoy the seat time and drive it also, and save the money.

Probably gonna do just that.

The only reason to trailer it would be if saftey on a busy road was an issue.

Not an issue at all. I can sometimes make the trip without passing another car.

Don't worry about the hours on the tractor, they are pretty easy hours and under a light load.

Yeah, I think it's settled: I'm gonna make a plywood roof for the tractor, to stay dry & out of the blazing sun, & just enjoy the little trip!

Hours are nothing. Guys say the same thing about a 3 point wood splitter. What are we talking, 10 hours per year? Over 30 years thats 300 hours. Would that stop you from buying a 30 year old tractor because it had 3,300 hours on it, not 3,000 hours.

Farmers never trailer any of there stuff. My uncle farms 4,000 acres some as much as 15 or more miles away from his feed lot and barn where he keeps his equipment. He drives them all back and forth.

Its like buying a new truck and not driving it because you do not want to put miles on it. Its a tool, so just use it.

Part of my thinking was also that I'm wasting 50 minutes (25 each way) a night riding the tractor to/from the property - On weeknights I don't get out until 6 or so, so that's seriously eating into my precious after-work hours. However, I can easily drive home after dark, so it's down to 25 "wasted" minutes ... & trailering it wouldn't cut that down much, if any, by the time I pull the trailer & un-load the tractor at the property.

Also, looking at the prices for those shipping containers; I think they cost too much to justify.

Again, just gonna drive the tractor ...

I see I had the shipping container link wrong; It's http://www.containersnow.com/index.php

I usually purchase a new trailer every year, then sell my "old" one and I always come out selling my old trailer for the same cost as the new trailer each year. It keeps me from having to buy tires or service brakes. I thought I would post up a couple of the trailers I have bought in recent years so that you can use them as a comparison when shopping.

Most of the time I am using these trailers to pull my L3940 with a 6' bush hog on the rear.

BTW, just a few weeks ago I purchased a 18' tandem axle lowboy with slide in ramps in fair condition (good floor, just needed two tires replaced) for $500.00,
That type of trailer might be the best bet for your needs.

Lovin' that blue trailer! And its price!

I do think I'm gonna just drive the tractor on the 4-mile route, though. Keep life simple. Keep bucks in my pocket. Just got back from doing it, actually. Not bad once I decided that's just how it's gonna be. :)

Dude, it will probably take more than 25 minutes to trailer it. You need to connect the truck to the trailer, make sure the lights, chain and brake are good to go. You will need to get the ramps out, the jack stands so the truck isn't lifted by the trailer. Then load the tractor, chain it down front and rear, etc. Then put the ramps away and the jack stands into the truck. Drive to the property, then unload it, put the chains away, etc.

If time savings is your priority - the trailer may actually cost you more...

What does the tractor weight?

~3,650 + FEL + implement (usually a bush hog). Not sure the weight on either FEL or bush hog. I've read maybe 800 on the FEL, & the bush hog is a Ford beast from years ago; Seems built to mow 100 year old oaks!

You're probably right. Seems the only way to save time is Diamondpilot's shipping container on the property idea.
