Would you book a trip to outer space or under sea?

Same here, when we were in St. Louis Missouri, I didn’t even go up in the arch, but the wife did, no way I’m riding in that little thing up to the arch.
The arch was pretty cool. I enjoyed it for the most part.

The downside was all the people visiting that refused to use deodorant and stunk of BO

Interesting that there was such a wide search area, when Ballard and Cameron, both stated, that the simultaneous loss of all telemetry meant the sub had imploded. And would be straight down from last contact. Exactly where the wreckage was found. And Cameron was furious with how the media framed the search as a rescue mission, giving false hope. The only bright light here, is that all the people on board would never have known anything, as the implosion atomized them in 3 mil-secs. Far faster than any sense can reach the brain. If forced in to a decision of a space flight or a deep dive, I'd pick the space flight.
I would've said the same thing given the choice but
if I'm fated to die on one or the other it sounds more likely like deep dive will be the less painful death

It seems to me that it's possible that they may've noticed a leak very briefly before the implosion, that would be scary.

That water leak would have been at 6000 psi so you wouldn't want it squirting bare skin.

The water would be at 6000 psi, but just like the leak from my top link cylinder (2500psi) it can still just seep and occasionally drip and be barely noticeable.

This isn't like a cracked valve, it's like a blown o-ring....and the difference between 2500 or even 3k and 5.8k is hugely significant. Given that the military detected the event from several hundred miles away I don't think it was a leak type event.

If you've ever eaten taco bell you know there can be a leak before the explosion. Lol.

Random info but, 5k psi is the pressure of a 1 megaton nuke at approximately 750' from the point of detonation. When you consider a 1 megaton nuke has an effective blast radius of over 3 miles against buildings (with pressure/shockwave alone not the heat which is much farther) that gives you an idea of how much pressure that "sub" was under.

They are not releasing hold of this Titan accident. One headline I just saw on my news feed read "What happens when your body implodes?"
I did not and will not click on it. Other sites are saying that the victims knew what was going on... they have NO way of knowing. Even if they did, so what? When somebody dies in an auto accident the family is often told they didn't suffer... it's small consolation but at least it's something they can hold onto. The media needs to STFU and let this go away.

News sells.

Here is the kicker, more money most likely on getting clicks vs actually going out and buying a real newspaper.

Sad but probably true.

And I agree 100% with your assessment of what on that sub actually knew.

Sad to say, dead is dead, BUT perhaps you can sell more "news".

If there was a small leak prior to to the implosion they might have had a warning. The warning would have been short. Less than a second. At the pressure the sub was subjected to any water that managed breach the hull would erode and start de-laminating the carbon fiber hull. And boy would it have been fast. And the hull would come apart and then implode. So I'm sure no pain was felt and I think there was probably not even a warning. I hope that parts of the sub are recovered, not the titanium parts so much but the carbon fiber composite hull parts. If any of the carbon fiber composite is recovered I bet it will show that any type of fiber composite hull is not a good choice for compression.
