Howdy,
I purchase my DK40se hst new in 2011, but picked it up in 2012 upon my return from overseas duty. I've got 460 hours on the machine and I'm very satisfied with my purchase. I use the tractor to grade my 1000 foot lane road, dig drainage ditches along said road, till up the neighbors gardens and lawns, and more than anything else, the FEL with forks to move logs/firewood, mower decks and everything else I prefer to not do by hand. The loader is very strong and always amazed at how much it will lift.
With such a powerful loader, I'm concerned with front wheel bearing failure as noted by several other DK40se owners. To prevent bigger front axle repairs, I intend to slide new bearings into the machine at about 1000 hours.
The ignition switch is fussy once in a while, but a few squirts of WD40 or other cleaner fixes that quickly. The valve that operates the 4wd function was defective upon delivery, so was replaced under warranty along with a torn boot on a tie rod end. The dealer installed extra rear valves started seeping hydro oil, but I was able to tighten up the bolts and fixed that issue. Oh, at road speed, I have a persistent and annoying "shimmy" in the steering wheel and can be felt in the seat as well. That issue seems to be related to speed and comes and goes. I thought it might be the front axle pivot bearings, but after adjusting per the manual, no improvement.
I really like the features on the DK40se hst. Nice seat, tilt steering wheel, three point up/down lever behind the tractor, adjustable three point attaching points, electric 4wd selector and more. Would be impossible to replace this machine for a reasonable cost nowadays.
Would buy it again.
Thanks,
Mike
