Would you live near a cellphone tower?

We have one with-in sight of the house. (Maybe 1/4 mile?) At that distance, it's hardly noticable. And it gave us tremendous cellphone reception. (Something we didn't have prior to the towers installation) I might feel different had it been erected with-in a few hundred feet of the house.

There has been a great deal of research into possible health risks from cell phone radiation right by your ear, and nothing conclusive has been found.
Radiation from the tower, where signal emissions come from antennas several hundred feet from you instead of an inch away . . . that's far less.
Even though the tower has more powerful transmitters that a cell phone the increased distance decreases your exposure.
People have had similar worries about living by microwave relay towers for long distance phone service. They use considerably more power and stil have not proven a hazard.
I would be more concerned as an eyesore than a health hazard.

They hide cell phone towers sometimes. Perhaps a call to the carrier is in order?

Cell phone towers do not pose a health risk. They might be an eyesore and cause your property value to drop, but they wont grow a third eye on the back of your shoulder. If the tower shares the same service as your cellular provider, you'll be ensured wonderful reception while you are at home. That could be a big benefit.
If people want to use their cell phones, they are going to have to put towers somewhere. The disguised towers are a great idea, but they do cost more and those cost will ultimately be passed on to consumers. Even with that caveat, I do think a disguised tower is the way to go in residential areas.

As far as eyesores, there's power, telephone, and cable lines and the associated poles and towers all over the place. No, I wouldn't mind. I wish our township was a little more lax about allowing them. Coverage is poor.

That was my only "concern" with the tower being near our house. I'd consider it far less of a health/saftey risk that my goofy neighbor and his "archery range" in the front yard.
Off in the distance from the house is the towns water tower and the cell tower. Neither are very noticable. Both are essentials of modern life. Some things you just have to endure.

No it isn't thousands a month in leases. Quite less. We have a couple and I can't discuss the rates but it's not thousands a month.

Yes a LOT less in rural or semi rural areas. In the midst of urban areas it will probably be more.
