Traction Would you operate on this hill?

Any way you can measure the actual angle of the slopes? A BX with proper ballast should be good to about 25 degrees, but those look beyond that.

Figure three is the one that worries me the most. Your down to ledge already, how much more is there to dig? Pick and shovel with a wheel barrow might be more effective.

If you do go on the hills keep the backhoe pointing uphill all the time . Myself I wouldn't do it, I had to go change my underwear by just looking at the pictures and thinking about being on them.

I have climbed some nasty hill on my atv trips and the pictures never do them justice, I have found its always steeper than the pictures appear . Might be tough for the bx.

Agreed.... all the pics I have ever taken to show how steep something is, don't seem to show the real situation. I've done a lot of "quading" on some very steep terrain (even rolled the quad once) and I've run my tracked excavator up and down some very steep slopes but putting the tractor on a side hill does not feel safe. I've always been a bit of a daredevil but there is no way I would run my tractor on that side hill. My ride on mower, yes, tractor NO.

I'm on hills and find the BX can be tippy...

Only once did it actually to slow motion roll to the right and I was able to "Catch" it with the outrigger and swinging the hoe to the other side.

What did me in was a soft spot where the wheel dipped and that is all it takes.

Also, the stability for the most part is in the rear wheels... the fronts pivot.

BX can do some amazing things and mine could do them better when I added weight to the rear tires...

That said I'm careful to never traverse and leave that when necessary to my JD350 Dozer witch is amazingly stable for what I do.

Welcome to TBN and great first question because no matter what you decide at least you will be more aware.

Have a look here www.clicdualwheel.co.nz this is a swiss idea that may help you. Personally I wouldn't go on those slopes without duals. The difference is amazing when you try it.
LASTLY Keep the Bucket LOW, ie about 12' from the ground AND no sudden turns on these slopes either.

If the ground was wet even w/morning dew I won't take the chance...go w/your gut feelings.
