4 in cyl 2 in shaft, 2000 psi = 25,133 lbs force
----------------------5000 psi = 62,834 lbs force

JJ, Kinda curious about the psi rating. Is that driven by the hyd pressure of the tractor or the hyd cyclinder of the shear? I have a kioti dk45se, and one of these is on my wish list. or to build something similar. So what would the psi rating be on my Kioti for example?

Tractor Data does not show your psi rating, but it is probably under 3000 psi

Someone posted this a while back.

Kioti DK45SE - KL401
Lift Capacity to Full Height at Pivot Pins = 2,761 lbs
Rated flow = 10 gpm
Relief valve pressure = 2556 psi

Kubota L4400 - LA703A
Lift Capacity to Full Height at Pivot Pins = 1,818 lbs (less 943 lbs)
Rated flow = 7.8 gpm (less 2.2 gpm)
Relief valve pressure = 2560 psi (more 4 psi)

It is easy enough to compute a straight on push on a hyd cyl, but if you push at an angle, you will have less of a push.

For example:

4 in cyl 3000 psi = 37,699 lbs of force. 90 degrees

Same cyl same pressure pushing a shear blade at 45 degrees = 26,657 lbs of force

Some shears have two cyl, so double the forces developed.
