You could also buy a length of PTO shaft tubing with the same profile you have and replace just the tube with the right length. This would be my choice.

PTO shaft extenders will create a lot of stress on the PTO bearings.

This is exactly right, and why I'd NEVER use an extender!

THIS QD extender just showed up. It seems very well made.

Will report back if the thing blows up while brush hogging.
