I'm not seeing retail prices dropping yet. Just comparing the OP prices to my current prices, they are still much higher now. Treated 4"x4"x16' is $42. 4'x9' OSB is $52. Feels like they are either still creeping up or at least holding steady.

I am already well into my lumber boycott., haven’t bought a single piece of lumber since early April.

I have been sorting through my wood pile, and found I had more decent wood than I first thought.

In addition, we have postponed a kitchen remodel until things get more reasonable.

I'm building a lean to off my pole barn. Cutting trees down for material and will chainsaw the lumber.

NY Times has an article on declining lumber futures this morning.

Hey Diggin It! As of 6/17/21 according to The Den of Tools site on You Tube prices are down 42% which is miss leading ! That puts them at last years high:unsure:, But that is the low so far for the year which ain't saying much.
4x8 x 1/2 OSB was over 40 bucks here a few days ago.

Profits and prices will stay high until demand drops appreciably. Just like gasoline, prices go up fast.

Demand has dropped considerably. We're hardly getting any orders in from Lowe's. A few months back we got several hundred a day.

I'm lucky as a friend gets lots of pallets and some are 8 ft long so anything for a while will be from recycled material.
Heck some nice 4 x 4 pallets are birch plywood, nice stable panels in 1/2", the type that is multi layered.

Ok then we are all in agreement, LUMBER BUYING BOYCOTT starts NOW! Let's see if everyone can hold out for a full month.
Month? I haven’t purchased from homedepot in about three months and haven’t been to a Costco for almost 9.

We shop at our local grocery store now and I have paused all optional home projects until prices calm down.

If it’s a necessity, I’ll shop/buy, but so far nothing has hit that level.
